If a person called the police information desk at a police station 12 times in a day, each time asking a real question. Then called 12 more times the next day, each time asking a real question. What would be the odds that this person would be arrested for phone harrassment. And keep in mind that each time this person calls, the same operator will be picking up the phone.

Well, are you going to actually test this? You'll need to get at least 8 or ten friends to do it to 8 or 10 different police stations. After a week, say, we'll know the percentage of you arrested.

I'll guess 0%. $5 on it.

Can't compute the odds without test data.

If you get a group of willing individuals together, go for it, and let me know what happens.

We can then calculate the percentage of the people in the study who were arrested, and use this number to project the average person's odds (expressed in percent) of being arrested for the same crime.

If you want help in setting up the test criteria, post a question to that effect.

Its not illegal to call the police with legitimate questions. However, if you are dialing 911 to do it, that, I believe is against the law, as you are tying up the lines and keeping other people from getting thru.
I would be interested in knowing why someone would need to call the police with 24 different questions. Oh well.

Pretty closo to 100%. Even if you have legit questions, the police operator is there to dispatch officers to fight crime and protect the safety of others.

If you can't find the answers on the net, try the research librarian at you local library.

I think the odds of you being ARRESTED for phone harassment would be pretty slim. Ticketed, summoned to appear, cited - very high. Why would you want to waste a public servant's time like this?

What would possess someone to do something so stupid? If it were really important, the person would ask all of the questions in one call. If this is not against the law, it very well should be!

stop being annoying to the police, if you ever have a real emergency they might just take their time to get there since you bother them so much

That's not illegal. Just annoying. I don't think you could get arrested for that. Maybe fined at the most.
