Not only does the bible speak of abortions, it is used as a punishment by "god" on several occasions.
Hypocritical nonsense...

God said so in the 10 Commandments. Do Not Kill is what He said. And if Jesus is God, which He is, then Jesus did say not to kill. That's what abortion is: the killing (more aptly, MURDER) of innocent, unborn children that have every right to live, just like everyone else. When a culture allows the denial of an unborn child the pleasures of life, it's only a matter of time before that culture descends into a state of moral corruption. It's crazy, but that's the truth. Just look at how America is. Abortion has been legal for almost 30 years, and our country is going downhill fast! Somebody stop us before we crash!
Murder is murder, whether it be of the unborn or fully-grown, or anyone in between those two points.

Not only that, but birth control also existed - Egyptian women were using plugs made out of crocodile droppings to prevent pregnancy 2000 years BCE. But Jesus didnt mention anything about birth control either....
Thats because the Bible and the words attributed to God were actually placed in his mouth by stone age goat herders....
Thou shalt not kill? Doesnt count - a zygote cannot live outside the human body, therefore, it is not a living creature until it can live on its own without the aide of a host.

Hi!
Maybe Jesus was against abortion, but no one ever wrote down his comment on it... Jesus loved children and references them often in his teachings.
However, Jesus was also about women's equality (imho)... In all his teachings, Jesus never once talked about oppressing women... even though He was raised and teaching in a male dominated society.
Jesus understood women very well... look at the way he treated the prostitute and the lady at the well who had had five husbands. So maybe Jesus was pro-choice.
I guess we will never know until the day of judgement... then we can ask him.

The dude only lived to 33... maybe it was on his agenda for good friday?
seriously, though, I guess you could theoretically say that the oft-quoted "thou shalt not suffer a witch to live" thing could be anti-abortion, since "witches" were really herbalists, but I don't know. The Bible is not, in MY eyes, a reliable source of information anyway.
and to all of you people saying they can just "have the baby and give it up for adoption," HOW MANY BABIES HAVE YOU ADOPTED??? OR SHOULD THEY GO FROM FOSTER HOME TO FOSTER HOME UNTIL THEY TURN 18 AND YOU EXECUTE THEM BECAUSE THEY GREW UP TO BE CRIMINALS???
om.... om..... om..... shanti.

We are not in the time JESUS were in, we are in our time 2006. ABORTION IS A HARD WORD THAT CAN CAUSE SOMETHING TO BE ABORTED. Now for me I don't believe in abortions but again thats my opinion. Now I really do feel for some victims that was raped and got pregnant, but they don't have to go through abortion they can have the baby and give the baby up for adoption, their is an answer to all questions even though we may not know the answer just yet. I have a friend, his mother was raped and after the rape happened, she was pregnated, she didn't give her child up and she certainly didn't abort him. He thanks his mother everyday for that. Even though I know it got to be hard to carry a rape baby and see that baby in your arms, knowing that you were raped. But a true mother wouldn't do that. Abortion is not always the answer, Your blessings come down, when will you accept we are not in Jesus time back then, we are here in 2006 we are suppose to follow the "HOLY BIBLE" and study it so we can make it to that beautiful place. Just remember THOU SHALL NOT KILL!!!!!!

Salam (Peace)!
First, because his words are rarely available. Bible is written by various authors. And second, i'm sure from his other examples it may be clear that he was probably against torture and cruelty towards innocent human beings (babies).
I hope you understand.
Take care!
