...because the Spirit of God comes? How does this differ from a self-reinforcing delusion? If I've convinced myself that the spirit of God has come, how can I tell the difference between delusion and the real thing?

Don't forget this, either!
2Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2Th 2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

1st - what is the source of your quote? And when you use the term self-reinforcing delusion - that implies that people that believe in the real existence of the Spirit of God are just foolin themselves. But I know that the Spirit of God is real, he makes himself known to me during quiet times - His presence causes me to focus on truth and makes me feel pure and that there is more to life than this present seen world.

The Holy Spirit only comes and resides in one whom God has drawn by His free grace to the saving knowledge of Jesus, the Christ and restores that one to a relationship with the Father - God. All sins are forgiven and God is just to forgive. The only thing that God sees when He looks at one in Christ is the righteousness of Jesus that one is cloaked in. Jesus received that righteousness from God for doing the Will of the Father and that Will was to go to the Cross to be payment in full for sin. The Holy Spirit is truth and reveals truth to the one in Christ. The Holy Spirit comforts, leads and guides and is the presence of Jesus. When God has restored one to a relationship with Him and drawn one by His free Grace to Jesus and gives one the free gift of salvation, one will know that the Holy Spirit resides in them and they will know that Jesus is the real thing and there will be no guilt. There will be no convincing on the part of man nor self-reinforcing delusion as the Spirit will reveal to them the truth. Many think they are saved when in fact they are not in Christ but are in the traditions and religions of man. Many believe that there are different paths to God but Jesus says He is the only way.

Good question, you will begin to see light or begin to hear a sound of God just like during the Pentecostal day. This is actual light & sound of God. The color of the light or the type of sound u hear will let u know where u are or the level of heaven u have visited. Green light or sound of a thunder indicates that u are polarizing in the physical world. Pink light or roar of sea indicates that u are on the astra plane. single note of a flute or dazling, blinding white light shows u are on the pure spiritual heaven. etc.

Have you ever believed that you could never be more happy than you were in a particular moment...then at another time in your life you find that you are even more happy than you were in that previous moment? Were you truly happy before or was it an illusion of true happiness? Or are there degrees to which one can be happy? Faith is no different. It's all very subjective.

The Holy Spirit will fill you if you ask sincerely. It helps if you have been to confession or some equivalent of repenting for your life's sins.

It is unmistakable experience. Although never exactly the same.

Just to back it up here, Jesus' blood makes us pure, that is why He was the ultimate sacrifice for all of our sins. Idk if you read the bible but when Jesus died on the cross the veil ripped in the temple stating that we no longer have to have a third party or have sacrifices to get close to God. His grace and blood cleanses us and we are able to come as we are, how can we come as anybody else? Ya know.

So yes stand firm and know that God has His hand on you, ask for His peace to rest in that.

You can't control the power of God. You can however control your delusion.
