This website is great.
There are tons of websites out there. Just do a yahoo search. I remember when my first son was born and I wanted to make sure I was doing everything right and by the book. Just relax and don't become too overwhelmed with everything. You are doing a great job. If he appears to be growing and thriving I would take that that he is getting enough.

That's about all my daughter ate until she was 9 months when she then started on stage 2 baby food. As long as he's gaining weight and getting enough formula per day, don't worry about it. At this age they are still getting their nutrition from breast milk or formula. Giving them baby food is just the introduction to learning to eat solid foods. My daughter didn't start finger foods until a year. She is 14 months and still chokes. Just be aware that choking (as long as it's not life threatening) is a natural part of the process to help them learn as well - when the time is right. Good luck.

That is just about what my granddaughter was doing. She's a little over 8 months now (we chopped up scrambled eggs and pancakes and she did ok with them over the weekend but honestly don't think she would have been able to last month either). It is wild how they change so fast. I've recently been giving her a baby food dinner and then some dessert (baby stuff-it's good for them). She doesn't always finish the dessert though. He mom wants her down to one bottle a day and trying to get her to drink more water too (baby water bought in a container). They do need water in their system. So she is now at one bottle before bed at night. I cheated a little over the weekend though. SSShhhhhhh (was babysitting).

All babies are different. What you want to look for is if he is gaining enough weight for his age. Babies at first choke when you introduce finger foods, that is normal; it is the transition process, they are not used to it and have to learn how to eat it. Give him just one bite at a time and make sure it is gone before you give him another! Make sure you stay next to him when you give him finger foods, that way if he does choke you can help him through it. Learn CPR it will come in handy and give you some peace of mind!

Some children's esophagus is smaller than normal and that is OK. All babies are different. I had one that ate 4 jars of baby food at each meal and before bedtime on top of her bottle of formula. One that drank more formula and ate one jar of baby food at each setting. 7 months is still to young to give table food too unless its soft and mushie. Like mashed potatoes. Run veggies through the food processor or blender. You can add a little meat to it and a little water to make it the right consistency. That will introduce the flavors. My daughters youngest started out eating at 9 months and his first food was avocado. He love the veggies. Broccli was his next.

as long as he's happy and growing, stick with the current schedule. In another month try finger foods again (Gerber makes little crackers that dissolve in the mouth, great for learning the skills of finger eating). He will start to show more of an interest in what you are eating too, and he can start to eat more table foods in the next few months. This is an exciting time in his development, so enjoy it!

well, the best way to see if your baby is getting enough is to see if he is hungry or not.
of course, ask your pediatrician, but i have read articles and studies of babies and until they are a few years old kids CANNOT overeat. their bodies know if they are hungry or not and they will not eat if they are not hungry.
so, if he is wanting more to eat, then i would give him more. if not, then he's good for now:)
as for the finger foods....
maybe try something softer and more disolve-able....cheerios are good at getting nice and mushy and gerber makes some puffs that are even more disolving.
these could be great snacks in between baby food, if he is a little hungry.
usually, once babies start using their pincher grasp on things they are ready for soids.
however, you also, have to be the judge since he's your baby!
choking and SIDS is one thing i'm terrified of! i already plan to ask my pediatrician for a crash course on emergency response for babies.
take care and just follow his hunger needs.....babies will not overeat until they are older.
