Yes!
Jesus descended into the grave, where He took the keys away from Satan, and took away all of those who had died looking forward to His coming.
Not ONE will be left behind!!

I would think not. It seems that to preach to the condemned would be an utter waste of time, energy, and resources, don't you? As I understand it, Hell is a place comprised of souls that rejected salvation. The deed is done, in other words.

I don't see anything in the Bible regarding Jesus' descending into Hell to preach the Gospel.

If you're talking about the Apostles Creed where it says that Jesus descended into Hell and on the third day rose again....I don't know what theologians say about this. My "feeling" is that Jesus descended into Hell so as he knew what it was firsthand. God came to earth to live as a human and therefore gain mercy. Before Jesus died, he had a moment of disbelief in God--"Why have you forsaken me?"--and so may have, as part of the price he paid, descended into Hell to "learn" what it was like to be condemned for lack of faith in salvation.

In any event, it seems that God is the only one who could visit Hell and then leave. Others do not visit. They stay. So any preaching of the Gospel would be pointless, since in Hell one no longer has the choice to accept salvation.

This is all my educated guess. Take it or leave it on account of that.

The Gospel translates as Good News.
Jesus descended into Hades with the Keys. Hades was also the waiting room for those that died and were faithful to God before God came to this earth in the form of Jesus. Those faithful to God were asleep and were resurrected with Jesus and were given age-long life. Those not faithful and believing in God are destroyed.

Yes, functionally, when he preached on Earth during Roman times. It was a pretty brutal and hellish existence, for the masses. Still is, in some places on Earth ... esp. the Horn of Africa, at the moment ... drought, overpopulation, warfare ... life there is short, brutal and miserable... "hellish".

Ever consider it? Earth as Hell? Maybe it's just Pergatory.

BTW, Koran agrees w/ DaVinci Code story, that Jesus did NOT die on the cross.

Think high tech... God-level technology ... in fact.

"For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, in order that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit; in which also He went and made proclamation to the spirits now in prison, who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water." 1 Peter 3:18-20

A study on whether Jesus actually went into hell, or preached to some who later died and went to hell, will help you.

Many Christians believe that Jesus decended into hell to free the righteous souls after he had paid the price for sin. This is interesting to know because the bible also states that God cannot dwell in unholy places. Since Jesus never claims to be God this may be another evidence for this...

I heard that Jesus went to hell and preached a revival and said "Whoever believes in me I'm going out of here with all power in my hands."

No He descended into hell to conquer the evil one and take back dominion over mankind from Him. If you accept Him as your Lord then you are no longer a subject in Satan's kingdom.

He went to hell to take the keys of death and hell from Satan. Then He went to Hades (Hebrew Sheol) to bring out the people who had loved God and had anticipated His redemption., and take them to paradise.

His descent into hell was a necessary part of His salvation, since He saved us from having to go there. But He didn't stay.
