.. how come women have to wait for men to propose marriage? i wonder how many women defy that custom?

I think men try to make sure they do partly because of partly trying to be the dominant person in the relationship, plus I think a lot of women have a fantasy fairytale proposal they may expect to happen when their partner proposes.

yes. At one time i proposed to my girlfriend of 2 years and 4 months. It was a park where we first met. I had given her a ring and let her put my ring on. A few months later the rings (which was real hard to steal from my girlfriend was thrown in the gardens at the park. Its very sad but for some little reason i was upset. Later on, she had brought another set and propsed to me at the park..I think its better to bring the idea up . Go window ring shopping together and let him handle it.

I am the best example, as I am the person who proposed my would-be for marriage so why not anyone else.

I think most guys wouldn't have a problem if she was the right one, it's just kind of an ego blow.

i wouldn't mine doing it but i would try not to because i probably couldn't deal w/the rejection...
