hi there, file sharing programs come with clean spyware that wont harm your computer unlike kazaa which has lots of dirty spyware..if u want a good file sharing program use limewire or gluz....they are very good to me..though i use gluz and it's everything you would want, be sure to have java installed....
limewire : http://www.limewire.com/english/content/downloadfree.shtml

None of them are 'safe'. They all expose your system in one way or the other.

That being said, your two 'safest' options are:

1) Torrents - This is probably the easiest for you to use, since you don't need to do much to get it working. Although you will almost always get reliable files downloaded from it, the web pages you go to search one can be full of lousy ads, pop-up, and even spyware in some cases.

As other posters have already written, torrentspy.com and isohunt.com are decent enough places to look up torrents to download. Torrentspy even has user reviews of the packs so you can see if it is good or not.

2) IRC - This is probably the best way to get files, but most people do not want to bother reading enough to learn how to use it effectively. Packetnews.com and ircspy.com are great places to look up IRC packs.

When I got my computer as a back to school gift, it came with NORTON Internet security. This works. Its got my computer safe! Even though the name has Internet in it it is also for your whole system.

There are none. Once you open yourself up to public sharing you can always get stuff you don't want. Sorry!

uTorrent is fast and small in size, will not hog your systems like the other ones.
