ok supercool, he's gonna be 4, he's not a baby anymore, he's getting to the age he can be alone for a few minutes at a time if he asks to. u can't NEVER leave your kid in the tub alone, if that were the case he'd be 12 before it was safe

You are doing just fine. I have two kids (almost 6 and 3) and I pop in and out of the bathroom while they are bathing/playing. Like you, I still supervise all the washing, but I don't feel like I need to sit right there with them while they play. I get their jammies out or straighten up their rooms, but I do make sure I stay in ear shot.
I started making my 5 year old wash himself around 4, but with my supervision. I'd coach him to make sure his underarms and genitals got washed. Sometimes I still help when I think he's especially grungy!

It varies upon child really. The child will let you know when they want to start bathing alone which sounds like what he is doing. Keep checking up occisionally to make sure everything is okay but do it less and less as you become more confident in him being safe in the tub. I would be like if you want to be able to play you have to wash yourself first. Then play time. That way he doesnt get distracted.

Never leave a child alone in the bath this early. Four is way to early. Wait till 6. At 4, they are still a bit clumsy and one slip can knock him out and it only takes an inch of water and a few seconds to drown. My sons are 6 and 9 and I still check on them every 1 minute and I stay in the room next to their bathroom.

i think as long as you dont put a whole lot of water in the bath tub and you can check on him and listen to him periodically then its alright to leave for a minute. My son is 3 almost 4 and i sit in there but there is times i leave out of the bathroom for a minute but i leave the door open a crack so i can hear him he's been fine on his own.

By the time he's 4 he should have some degree of water-sense and should be able to be left alone for a few minutes and be able to attempt to wash himself. But it really all depends on the child and your own senses and confidence in him, allowing some room for independence.

I think there is nothing wrong as Long as you are not violating their privacy he is your kid & you can be able to see him like he was born. I have a daugther who's 5 & she is learning to take quick baths but I kind of help cuz her hair is long so I help her out washing her hair....But we as parent have to supervise our kids what If they fell & you didn't nitice cuz he was taking a bath alone ???? I guess she can have her privacy with a little of my supervicion also I have a son (20 moths) I will do the same with him..But it is up to the parents & you as the mother will know what it is best for him & If he is not embarrased will worry he is your son maybe until 7 or 8 will be a goos time for him to have complete privacy ....GOOD LUCK!!!!

I would never let a child in the bath by him self. I would set there right with him. i would wait untill he wants to get into the bath by him self and wash his self. Thats when you know he is ready to be in that bath alone. the whole age thing does not mean S***! he can get in there in the min. you walk away he can fall and pass out.... "i just worry alot"

never ever leave a child alone in the bath - havent u heard of tragic stories where a mum nips to get a towel , answers door or phone for less than a minute and come back to find the worst. hes still pretty young really. id leave it a couple of years atleast.
