to go along with the answer above regarding using sound recording program. within it, you can change the sampling rate from a higher number to a lower number to make a smaller package to convert to mp3. less sound quality, but then again less space.

I don't understand why people you give answers which are not easy to implement they tell to use some softwares which are memory hog. Let me answer ur question. It's the simplest way and I've recorded more than 2000 songs on a 700 MB CD in .mp3 format (without loosing the quality). You'll believe it when you give it a try. The first thing you need is download a small software (free) named Switch from http://nch.com.au/. Record your voice through sound recorder and save the wave file. Now you can convert it using the software to less than 5 mb even less than that. I converted 48 MB size of song to 3.8 MB. for how to do this mail me at j2v2k6-tech@yahoo.co.in

Probably u cannot directly record in mp3 format. However u can record in wav format and then convert to mp3 using any available mp3 encoder and then delete wav file to save space. U can download wav to mp3 converter from net. a lot of sites provide free s/w.

It is not possible. Sound travles in the form of waves, hence wav is the only format it can accept. However after completing the recording you can convert that into mp3 and reduce its size

I paid $70 at suited purchase for it, yet you will locate it greater fee-efficient online. besides the shown fact that, i think of it records in .wav format, so in case you like MP3 you're able to wish a format converter. There are loose ones on the cyber web.

The sound recorder is trying to make your sound as uncompressed as possible, that is why you can never record your sound and then directly distribute the sound, you have to convert them first. Usually, most sound recorder offers a way to compress audio files, into mp3 format, or sometimes wma or ogg. Try searching for options to save files in these formats in your recorder first, if it is unavailable, you could find them on http://www.downloads.com for free audio converter

first record your voice. Then download a program called sonicstage. It changes the format of your audio file to mp3 and compresses the file. If the recording takes up 5 megabytes of space, Sonicstage will convert it to about 1 megabyte.
