I forget the details but last year a women's pro team was out training before a big race in Germany, and a drunk plowed into the group. I think 2 or 3 ladies were killed and several seriously injured. There have been similar accidents in the US, I remember one in Houston a few years ago.

I never will forget it:

I had just finished eating Chinese food. I was going down this really, really steep hill doing about 80mph with no brakes...I had a bad case of Diarrhea, my pants got caught in the chain, I was on fire, I was being chased by killer bees, and as if that weren't enough, I was blinded by the sun. Lucky for me, there was a tractor trailer at the intersection which stopped me from crossing the road into a huge alligator pit. Wow, I guess it was my lucky day.

On July 18th, 1995, during stage 15 of the Tour de France, Fabio Casartelli crashed on the descent of Col de Portet d'Aspet and was tragically killed. Shortly after his crash, the Motorola team and the Societe du Tour de France placed a memorial stone dedicated to Fabio at the spot where he crashed on the Col de Portet d'Aspet. In 1997, the Tour de France revisited this climb and stopped for a brief moment to honor Fabio's memory

I saw on reality tv one a dude was going with his bike down a vulcano hill, and he wanted to brake world speed record when he had hit a stone and broke his bike in 2.
By that time he was going waaaay to fast to do anything about that.
So i guess thats the worst one i saw.
