When reporting a user we may choose an Abuse Category in which our complaint may be classified. I was shocked not to find a Racism/Discrimination category. However there was a category "Not in correct language". Does this make any sence? Seriously, which is more important? Are the people at Yahoo! even aware of the amount of discrimination on their site? Take a look in the Religion/Spirituality section; loads of discrimination there, especially directed at muslims. Can Yahoo give reasonable arguments as to why they are allowing it?

Freedom of speech? Since when has that been an excuse to systematically, deliberately insult people or groups of people? Sorry, I am in favor of freedom of speech, but poeple could be more humane and treat each other respectfully. One can use freedom of speech to say that one doesn't agree with someone and give a reason why, but one should not use freedom of speech as an excuse to go about insulting other people.

All your answers still don't give reasonable arguments in favor of not including a racism/discrimination category, and they certainly don't explain why there IS a "not in correct language" abuse category. Since when is the incorrect use of language abusive? That category could be renamed as "abusive language" or something like that.
And since when is discrimination not an issue? Would you still say that if your kid was discriminated at school, just because it has a different religion or a darker skin colour?

Prior to today, there were no categories (at least this week), so you could type in anything you wanted.
I tend to use "insulting other participants" for racism, discrimination, sexism and homophobia, since by definition such hate speech insults and defames others. "Epithets and slurs" works, too.
By not having a category specifically for this, Yahoo, to me, is not "allowing" such abuse; they are just expecting us to find a category for it.

Yes I've struggled with that when I've reported several people because of this issue. Maybe someone should suggest to Yahoo to add that as a category. I know I would use it if I feel someone is being racist or discriminating, etc.

I do believe the Answerer's final paragraph (in the hyperlink you provided) approximately unsolicited mail, plagiarism, bigotry, etc. however the stuff approximately chatting & 'fee me' ?? is going too some distance, IMO. I overlook appropriate to the 'fee me' stuff, as i'm no longer a shallow individual. A %tells no longer something of the guy them self. And chatting is exciting. I by no skill have stated somebody who replied my ??, no count how insulting the respond became into. yet I even have stated solutions to others in severe situations (a 14 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous female as quickly as asked what exciting video games she ought to play at her sleepover occasion & the Answerer used very vulgar, convey language in his answer--so I stated him--& i'm bowled over that Y!A did no longer right away censor the countless words he used.) It must be VERY undesirable previously I document somebody. i will document unsolicited mail, although. this is in basic terms annoying!

I didn't even know the abuse list was back up, I've been having to type what the problem is. It's shorter now, too, I've noticed. I wonder why?
But yah, you're looking for harassment, or slurs. They used to have a threat of harm category, but I guess they got rid of it.

Because racism and discrimination are not issues...inciting violence, insulting other participants, and such as that are.
One may disagree with any religion...Christian, Muslim, Jewish...also Pagan, Wiccan, or whatever, without being either 'racist' (any race can be a member of a religion) or 'discriminatory'.
Yahoo does not have the right to dictate to people what they ought to believe...

Racism & discrimination are not reasons to report someone. Advocating acts of racism & discrimination or openly spouting racist or discriminatory remarks are good reasons to report someone.
A big problem we have in this country now is that everyone want to play that card, when in fact, its overuse has diminished it. Why can;t we eliminate those words and just have people to people dialogue. Let's talk.

Perhaps it could be requested that Yahoo! add a Racism/Discrimination category. I think enough requests might result in action.

Why does everyone have to report everybody.
If someone types something that offends you, that is discrimination, it is thier opinion and they have the freedom to express it.
Get over it.
