Let's face it-- an eternity bowing before the Throne, singing "Alleluia", doens't sound like fun to me.

But suppose instead of that, Heaven is like the greatest Amusement Park ever. Don't you think that after, say, a trillion or so eons you'd have done everything you could possilby do billions of times over and you'd get terribly BORED? Until you were begging for the sweet release of oblivion? Yet no matter how lo-o-o-o-o-ong you'd been there, you'd still have an eternity ahead of you!

Heaven would become Hell eventually.

And think of it: You would never really be secure there. God could always kick you out of Heaven if he felt like it. Why not? Didn't he kick out 1/3rd of his angels? Then he could do it to YOU!

I ain't going to Heaven. No one deserves to go to Hell. So I'm staying right here. So there!

I completely agree. Heaven is like a totalitarian regime. The moment you want some freedom for yourself, like Lucifer did, rather than idolize your autocratic ruler, you get kicked out or chained up.
Then again, Heaven doesn't sound like such a pleasant place anyway. Sure, streets paved with gold are good and all, but if there's so much of it, its economic value is bound to be low. After that, it's like walking around on urine-colored roads. Ick.
And apparently all people do there is worship God. That's one of my least favorite activities here on Earth. Faced with a choice between Hell and an eternity-long church service, I'd choose Hell any day.
Of course, I'd rather believe in science and not delude myself. In seventy or eighty years, I will forever cease to have consciousness. There's nothing I can do about it, so I might as well make the most of what time I have.

You might say that now but nobody really knows what heaven or hell may be like. Heaven could be like what you described or it would be so cool that it escapes human explanation. After if all God is all powerful heaven might just be that kick-***. Wouldn't you want to err on the side of caution. If you don't you could be that kid that doesn't picked for kickball, only this time you watch everyone else have a good time forever.

Heaven as most people imagine it doesn't really make much sense: an eternity worshiping some paranoid, love starved, dictatorial being that demands submission as towards an almighty being, yet that clearly has limited powers... Sort of like an ant colony under the gaze of a kid with a magnifying glass.

No one is going to force you to go. People like you probably wouldn't like it there anyway. Personally, yes, i would love to praise God with the angels forever. And i will love not feeling pain and suffering and people being killed and death and lies....etc etc. And not having to live in a crappy trailor, and instead have a mansion and fields of flowers and flying to visit other planets and swimming in clear rivers....and sitting at Jesus feet and learn things that we cannot understand here. And eating fruit with no pesticides and eating from the tree of life so i will never be tired and achy ever again! And animal will not be afraid and will not die from diseases. and there will be no wars...it will be better than i could ever imagine. I long to be there. And by the power of Jesus i will!

Stop equating Heaven with Earthly comparisons. You need to step outside of all that you know and accept that Heaven is on another plane and has nothing to do with amusement parks or anything else you can think of because all that you (or any human) KNOWS, is what you can read and see and touch. And that's not what religion is about.

Don't you find this site just heaven? Why else could it be so cruel yet inspiring, so cool yet cosy, so perfectly without bugs? I like to think I might live on as the glare that appears on my screen, staring me in the face as I am forgetting once again to e-mail a few people.

Maybe there'll be periodic memory wipes in heaven, so that you don't remember everything you've done. You get to experience things an infinite number of times, and it seems new every time.

Maybe that's where the "72 virgins" idea comes from.
