There is not a single non-theist who wouldn't believe if he/she saw a real supernatural miracle, so why do you think there were such a lot of non-believers fighting against prophets even in those ancient times. Isn't it clear that the prophets couldn't prove their claims.
They wanted people to believe them. Some believed, some didn't.
If the prophets had really proved their claim, the words "believe" or "not believe" wouldn't even be used.Because everybody would be satisfied and everybody would "know".If there is a real proof (not a magic), why should some people choose not to believe with their free will. For example, if Jesus really raised someone from dead, who could say that it was a trick or magic. Who would choose not to believe him?

Seeing is not believing.
The Isaraelites exited Egypt and crossed the Red Sea.
Powerful stuff!
Within 3 weeks they were complaining and wanting to return.
The Pharisees admitted Jesus raised Lazarus (John 11:47) but they refused to let it influence them.
Witnessing unexplainable phenomena will not counteract pride, selfishness and hatred.

Greetings,
First off do you rread the bible? Jesus himself was not believed in His own country even though He had performed miracles that people were witness to. It is not that people want or not want to believe but rather how much influence the devil has over those in this world The prophets certainly proved that their prophecies were genuine and legitamate as history has substantiated without any doubts or reservation. Prophecy that is unfullfilled does not mean that they are false or bogus it just simply means that the time for fullfillment has not yet arrived.
