it is great! romantic and fun. it is really not like cooking at home. my wife and i love it! we give gift certificates as presents to the melting pot. you will have a very nice time. little expensive but don't hold back! if you have to cut cost then do without the cocktails or just have 1 or 2 at the most.
have a great time!

Absolutely love it. Its different though. You have to have patients. Which is an excellent way to see how your boyfriend will act in this type of atmosphere. Yes you do have to cook the food yourself but I enjoyed that and its at your own pace. You have to enjoy Fondue. When ordering, don't order the oil stock, order the chicken stock to cook everything. It has more taste. I would have to say that the dessert is the best part. They come out at the end of your meal and melt chocolate and you get to dip all kinds of fruit, marsh-mellow, and cake into it. Yummmm! We go now sometimes just for coffee and dessert. Hope you enjoy your experience. Its a great place to go for 2 people or 6. Yes, its alittle expensive but I think its worth it. We usually only go for special occasions like a birthday or anniversary.

It's a good, fun choice for a birthday date. Be prepared to spend a bunch of money, though. It's pricey, both the food and the wine list.
If you've never been there you could order a sampling dinner for two, it's a lot of food, but that way you can try the cheese fondue, the meats and seafood, and of couse the chocolate fondue for dessert!
They give you instructions on how to cook the meat and fish so that you know it's cooked enough, you shouldn't be nervous about that.
Have fun!

Yes, you do cook your food at the table, in a fondue pot of course, but that's part of the fun of doing a fondue meal.
My overall impression of The Melting Pot is that while the food is good, it is a bit pricy for what you are getting.
But if you've never done a fondue meal, it can be fun.

okay, I just went to this restaurant on my recent trip to south carolina b/c my friend suggested that it was fun as he had been there before. Let me tell you, stay away. First of all teh meal sets that you order are about $90 a piece! Then not only do you cook your own meats but they are plain and unseasoned. For 90 bucks they need to have flavor! You get bread and vegetables 1st as an appetizer and you dip it in this cheese fondue that the waitor/tress mixes for you. then you get your actual meal with teh meats that you order and cook them in the oil but like i said the meats aren't seasoned. I would pass. I was pissed that me and my two other firends went and spent all that money for that! I hope I helped.

It's fun, but set aside at least 2 hours and a bunch of cash. It takes a long time to eat there, plus I thought it was expensive. I remember our bill being $120.00 and we didn't get all crazy with ordering, it was just me and my husband. Also the smell of the broth gets into your dead and you can't get it out. I can still smell the broth cooking and that was 3 years ago.
