As Lenny Bruce said:
If Jesus had been put to death in the electric chair, would Catholics be wearing little electric chairs around their neck?

I think He would be very sad, as the story doesn't end there. Jesus is NOT on the cross anymore, He is risen, He has conquered death.
By the way, only Catholics use the crucifix. Protestant Christians use the empty cross to show that Jesus is no longer dead.
As for a "less loaded symbol", shouldn't we use something that tells the story of the main reason He came to earth? His whole purpose was to live life as a man, to die as the sacrifice for our sins and then to be raised to life to show that death has no hold on Him.

humorous- i grow to be only thinking an identical element in church the different day. The bypass wasn't some thing extraordinarily. It grow to be the place suffering befell. It grow to be the place hearts have been broken and people begged for mercy from their soreness, the place torture reigned superb. It does look slightly annoying for us Christians to rejoice it. To a Christian, however, the bypass isn't approximately soreness- it fairly is approximately Christ's sacrifice. that's a reminder of what He did for us. i think of it fairly is extraordinarily cool that he took such an unsightly, evil, disgusting element and made it right into a logo of the suited act of affection ever carried out. it is not approximately what adult adult males did with it, yet what He did with it. So if He have been hung, could I placed on a noose? in all probability. If He have been beat, i could placed on a club, or if He have been beheaded i could placed on a guillotine. it is not approximately the way it befell- very almost the shown fact that it did.

strange irony that someone with a devil avatar would pose that question.
no, he would DEFINITELY APPROVE of the symbol.
the most crucial aspect of Christianity is accepting that Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice for your sins. Therefore, the crucifix is as appropriate as appropriate can get.
people with an agenda that try and get others to reject Christ usually pose this question, to make people think oh yeah, Jesus was just a nice guy - yet that is the greatest underestimation in the history of the world- he was God in the flesh and he fulfilled what the Bible had prophesized in the Old Testament by dying on the cross and then being resurrected.

The empty cross is what most protestants use, it symbolizes his ressurection and life, which in turn celebrates our life and ability to live because he died. Catholics (and protestant Anglicans) use the crucifix (Jesus is nailed to the cross on this one)...it seems to be mourning more than anything, I think its kind of morbid, and Jesus probably wouldn't want us to be dwelling on that, be wants us to know about what that means for our future.
And the cross is not the only Christian symbol. The fish is also a Christian symbol. Ever hear how Jesus said to be fishers of men? In early times Christians were killed if they announced their beliefs, so they used symbols to declare their faith and to let one another know who they are so they may speak in private about Jesus and God. the one that has survived today is a fish, and its pretty non-morbid to me.

i think that the moment stupid Christians started doing that, Jesus laughed about it.
It is like walking around with a little golden guillotine around your neck.
Most Christians who walk around with a cross, ask them if they have ever read the bible, these people just use that symbol because they want to feel like they are being protected by it, like a good luck charm, that is about all they know.
Jesus was much much more than just what his death symbolized, his life lessons and his teachings are what people should try focusing on. Why not a necklace that shows Jesus smiling with a bible in his hand, or sitting down in a peaceful state like the Buddha?Jesus does not have to appear in agony for you to remmember him.

Many Christians don't take the crucifix as the symbol of their faith. Only the Catholic Church uses this as a symbol of their faith.
The power of God was released after the crucifixion, when Jesus said, "It is finished." This is what defines my faith...that God would so humble Himself, endure such a painful death (remember, Jesus, God the Son, was fully human AND fully God) to restore relationship between Himself and me.
Praise the Lord!!!

Your question is sooooo right!!!!
This has depressed the Christian psyche for millennia. Christians focus on their own sin and Jesus' death rather than living fully the way Christ did, and tried to teach us to do. Jesus rejected the sinful Old Testament and its vengeful God. He tried to bring us the good news, the New Testament, that God wants us to love and live fully. Jesus didn't want us to live in fear of the mythical ghosts of the Old Testament. He tried to free us from sin, FOREVER, so we could be alive without guilt. Yet some cling to their mythical original sin like a badge of honor, which kills their human spirit.

It's to remember with a simple symbol what He did for us. Some people forget easy, like 9/11.

Well I don't think that he would like it at all. That is why most Christians don't use the crucifix as a symbol of Christ. I think its only Catholics that do that.
