Good question, I believe we all have something called discernment some may have it stronger than others but usually you can tell when something is not right with evangelists. Some of the ones on TV are out to seek money but there are some sincere ones. I think Joyce Meyers is one of the ones who is sincere. Who knows but the ones who beg for money and proclaims "someone in this room tonight has $1000 dollars and they are sitting in this section over here.... Get the point! Those are the ones we need to run from. I just think it's sad they do that to people.

Its unfortunate that many of these people have taken the idea of trying to reach the large population to convert and twisted it in order to gain money/power/popularity by the general populous. whats more insulting is that they generally target the infirm, the elderly, and those that have come searching desperately for the help of God, only to be lied to/used by these horrible men.
To make things worse, they provide a logical and compelling reason for Athiests and those confused about christianity (these two groups are not necessarily the same people) to never consider the bible or the idea that God can exist. It certainly makes Religion a joke with people like fraudulent evangelist.
I cant say all of them are fraudulent, but they certainly do exist. The truth is that there is corruption in religion, politics, and any organization. The only real solution is to be cautious of anyone selling something...
As for the Evangelist, you can gain whatever these guys are selling simply by going to your local church. They arent the only avenue towards being educated in the religion of Christianity.

All are frauds. And if they aren't at first, as soon as the money comes in they start to change. I think some of them do have good messages at times and that is important. I just don't think you need to give your all to him. And for the person who wrote that God will financially reward those that preach you have to remember that God is not sending in the money, all the fools are.
Giving to your church is fine but in those numbers and what do they have to show for it? A HUGE crystal palace in Houston! Remember, Christ was born in a STABLE! nothing showy or grand. and THAT is how he live his life. His Glory was in the way he treated others, not anything of monetary stature.
With all the technology of T.V. why do they even need to build these huge arenas for them to televise from? People can watch at home just as easy and all those millions can be put to better use. And I am not talking about 5000.00 suits and private Jets here.

There is no question that many are frauds. Hinn, Copeland, Price plus many more who are mostly in the TBN group. These people are a part of what is called the Word/Faith teachings that are not a denominational issue but this false teaching has infiltrated much of mainline Christianity. You can recognize them because they claim great miracles and preach wealth and health.

Yes some may be frauds and some may be sincere. It is easy to steal the faith and confidence in people because people feel a great need to have a strong faith in their religion and since religion is based in articles of faith rather than articles of factual science there is an area of vulnerability in people who desire to worship their God. Fraudulent con artists posing as ministers of the Lord shamelessly take advantage of those who only seek the true word of God.

Most of them are nothing but frauds and con artists.
Can't you hear Jesus yelling "My House is a House of Prayer, but you are turning it into a Den of Theives!!"??
I can, every time anyone mentions the "Totally Blasphemous Network"!!
If there are any "real" evangelists on there (by mistake, no doubt), they ought to get out...they are only helping to give Jesus Christ and Christianity a very bad image.

I think they put on a show to see who can bring in the most money, but behind closed doors they don't follow what they preach. Anyone who is new to TV evangelism they ban together and band them from the tube. It is full of politics. Though most are full of sh-t, I do believe a few are sincere you just have to pray and ask God for guidence on the matter.

Once I saw one reading from the Bible and explaining a bit to a fellow sitting across the table from him. After his explanation, he gave one of those arrogant "this is so f*ing obvious it's a wonder I have to even say it" laughs, and since then I won't give them the pleasure of being on my television screen, nor on my radio dial. Arrogance will drive me away faster than a bad smell.

I don't like to judge people but I am a skeptic of some of them. I think when they start begging for money and tell you that lots of good things will happen if you send them money it is time to turn the tv off.

I could not have said it any better than you have....
These fraud are really good at taking money from those who need it the most, poor people who believe that sending in money will help their prayers find gods ears.
Newsflash: You don't need to send in money to pray to god.
If there is a hell, you will see them there, for sure.
