go from jobs they WERE doing only to be replaced by illegal aliens by companies profiting on them as a source of cheaper labor (lower wages, no benefits, being paid under the table, etc.)?
Please don't give me the arguement that Americans are lazy because economic studies continue to show Americans work more/harder and produce more per hour than any other nation.

gidget- have YOU seen the posts of people on this forum who said they were "laid off" and the company then proceeded to replace their employees with cheaper illegal aliens? And, although I personally wasn't laid off and replaced by illegal aliens, the factory of the un-unionized, extremely low paying printing company (I worked there 4 years and never made above $6.50/hr despite a college degree with a high gpa and constantly "recognized" for my hard work, etc.) where I once worked and which did printing work almost exclusively for the Big 3 automakers here in Michigan still decided they needed to move to the Southwest US for "financial reasons" a couple years after I had left for a better opportunity. I can only imagine the ONLY way to squeeze out more profit was to hire illegals at even more ridiculously low wages, no benefits, etc. What do you think happened to my former co-workers then?

Americans are 'laid-off, let go or down sized' due to companies bottom-line 'money'. If they hire someone at minimum wage and work them just under what guidelines they have set for benefits eligibility - then they have more money in their pockets. Some companies even close down business here and move to a Third World country to get the lower wages, no benefits and no EPA rules.
Americans have always been hard workers; years ago business discovered they could hire illegals' and make more money, so they lobbied congress to pass laws prohibiting minors from doing manual labor and only made it available for illegals (plus the farmers have to provide housing for them). What a huge mistake that was! When you're trying to teach a teenager 'the meaning of a dollar'; go out and earn it yourself or keep them from getting bored, getting into trouble and off the streets, we have shot ourself in the foot and created 'lazy' kids. When I was 12 - I was in the fields picking, making my own money and buying my own school clothes. Americans are not lazy - we have, unfortunately, created laws that make it possible to take jobs from us.
We must all stand up and voice our outrage; to our senators and representatives - but wait a minute, one of my senators owns a business who hires nothing but illegals - how is that going to work?

Other than the fact that our government & the media are talking fiction why would there be any jobs Americans won't do as long as there is one able bodied adult on welfare? Send all the illegals back where they came from, cut off welfare money as long as there is one job in the US..... I would much rather subsidize the wages of one American that have to pay to keep BOTH the welfare person & the illegals!
Don't understand why middle-class Americans are forced to keep anyone that won't work - whether it's physical labor or working the system!

Sly who are you to say that no one would fill in the jobs the illegals are doing now. Maybe you wouldnt do those jobs because you are a lazy piece of **** but other americans including me and my family would do those jobs in order to survive. All that my family has ever done is hard manual labor. We came from Italy 26 years ago and all we did was do hard work. My father and brother have a landscaping business so dont go telling me that no one would fill those jobs. You do not know me or my family.

It's not that Americans are lazy but that we tend to over value our worth when it comes to certain jobs. Let's take basic non-skilled home construction labor. The basic rate for most companies is $10 an hour or more. For me, $10 for someone to push a wheelbarrow or work a shovel or tote some material from one place to another is over priced. But most american laborers value their time at this rate or higher.
When you have someone that is willing to do this same work for a significantly lower rate then it sense from a purely business view to get the work done at a lower rate. While I do not agree that we should be employing illegal immigrants I do understand that importing and use of non-illegal immigrants that are willing to work for the lower wages.
The real catch about all of this as I see it, is that Americans expect more for the money (in this example a lower priced home) and are not willing to pay for the extra expence of all-american labor. This leaves the company in a difficult position, either use all-american labort and raise prices or use a blended workforce of less expensive unskilled labor and keep prices at acceptable levels for the consumer market.
A prime example of this is steel production. In Baytown texas there was once a huge steel production facility. The unions raised the prices of labor and benefits to a point where the company could not compete against foreign steel prices. When they tried to cap their labor cost and (gasp!) reduce their non skilled labor cost by reducing pay rates the union went on strike. They were on strike for almost a year as the company tried to explain the true value of non-skilled labor and the competition from over seas. Finnally the company offered an ultimated, accept lower labor cost or we'll take our business over seas. The union refused.. the plant closed and moved it's facilites over seas. 100's of hard working american out of work.. not because of illegal immigrants taking the jobs.. but because of workers whom over valued their abilties.
Well.. off my soap box... that's my opinion anyway.

Profits drive businesses to ignore the laws of our nation. No different than embezzling, except they are steeling from our nation. Mexico has ten percent of i's population in the states, it is a bonanza for corrupt businesses.
Our government turns a blind eye, and collects the votes from this corruption of our nation.
American's aren't going to be the sub class citizen that “ non documented” will be. Another slave labor situation.

There is no such thing as a job americans won't do. If there is a shortage of workers the wages slowly rise until people take the job. It's simple economics.
PS: Bush and the cheap labor republicans are the ones who talk about "jobs Americans won't do", most liberals have more sense (like me.)

The don't do jobs Americans won't do. However, they do do jobs that Americans won't do for illegal sub-minimum wage salaries. If a job pays enough for a person to live on, Americans will do them. In the mean time, because they will work so cheaply, unscrupulous empolyers will use them instead of legal help which ends up depressing salaries for all laborers.

I believe you've just answered your own question...WELL DONE
You said 'how do we explain the fact that Americans are let go from jobs , blah, blah...' and then said 'sources of cheap labour'
I guess money is what makes the world go round, and America is not the only place to suffer
Don't worry though: in a matter of decades, countries like china and India will rise above the rest...and it will be the Americans and the British who will be the 'illegal aliens'!!! Yup: they'll definitely have the last laugh

I will answer to ur question.
it is easier to hire an illegal, than to apply for a work permit and pay 1500$ to the DHS just to file an application.
and it is a pain to hire a US citizen, becasue the boss has to pay taxes,...
so the best way is to hire illegal mexicans becasue youe system is ****** up and the gov know it, but dont care...
one day, US will become mexico, and US people will look for jobs in mexico.
probably it is how the US capitalism will end.

I'm sick to death of people saying that Americans won't do certain jobs. I do not have a job right now.. I would LOVE any job right now. No , matter how dirty or hard. My husband works hard. My mother, an American , works hard cleaning for other people. And Americans can get off welfare if companies would start hiring Americans.
