I like boxing, but this show just doesn't do it for me. Actually, I can handle everything EXCEPT the fight. Why can't they show it in real time like an actual boxing match? Everything is edited together to make it look as even as possible, while showing Sugar Ray Leonard and other contestants "oohing" and "ahhning" after every punch. It looks staged and insincere. If they went to actual commentators with no slow-mo, dramatic music, and crowd shots, I might be down. What are your thoughts?

I watched the first season of The Contender and totally agree with you. I was disappointed they did not show the fights in real time. If they didn't show the other contestants reactions after ever single punch, they'd have more time to show other bits of the fight.

I think the format is good but can be improved by Sugar Ray picking the opponents. If he is watching them as much as the show is trying to infer, let him pick the two. More training and tips for the fighters are needed.

I agree. It definitely looks "staged." It could use a professional commentator to make it more life-like (Max Kellerman). I've got my money on the Walter from Seattle.
