Yes, BUT ewe, gross. It makes your hair smelllike mayo for weeks no matter how hard you try to get rid of the smell. And whatever smell you use to cover it up, you willnever want to smell that smell again. mayo belongs in tummies only.

You can find your answer on the web...here's one I found for you:
"A good conditioner in your fridge We have all heard the tip about conditioning with mayonnaise. This is true if you use REAL mayonnaise. It is rich in oils and eggs, which are a good source of fatty acids. The fact is it contains lemon juice, and is pH balanced, so it will keep your hair in its natural pH level. Here is how to do it: after shampooing the hair, rinse well and towel dry well. Add about two tablespoons of mayonnaise and gently work it through your hair and then comb through with a wide toothed comb. Next, put a plastic cap or some plastic wrap on your head and allow the heat of your body to warm it up. If you want you can apply a warm towel, but not too hot, and sit back and relax. After thirty to forty minutes rinse the hair again and shampoo with a conditioning shampoo. This will take the residue off the surface of the hair, but allow the good nutrients to remain within the outer layer of the hair. Always rinse the hair after with a cool water rinse. Style as usual and you will have shiny, silky hair."

I used both..to set this point straight:::: When we say Mayonnaise it's not kind we eat people!!!!!
They are special kind of Hair Mayonnaise that was made just for hair...I used Organics Hair Mayonnaise and I leave it on for 30 mins then wash it off...my hair became so soft and silky..( Highly Recommended)
Deep Conditioners work too..
But I would definitely recommend (Hair Cholesterol)...it work like a charm every time for soft, smooth, silky and heathy hair...you can get it at any beauty supply store.

I tried that --- and regretted it. Maybe used too much, ended up all greasy and smelly.
There is no reason to resort to that old myth!
I also tried the olive oil gimmick - double yuk!!!!
There are professional products that are MUCH better for your hair and don't leave a greasy film on it. Try L'Anza products (Trade Secret), or that Garnier Hair Masque.

yes, it is the eggs and oil in it. I would put it on dry hair and let it sit for 30 minutes or so.

No. It will make it temporarily feel softer until you shampoo it next time. Anything that doesn't penetrate the cuticle is very temporary .

no dont do it. its an old wives tale.
it adds food oils to your hair, so its sort of soft, but it is FOOD OIL! you dont put that in your hair.
plus it smells.
