While I'm out at work, my dog sleeps on my couch. Is there a chemical or product on the market that will keep him off my sofa while I'm out?

I don't know about chemical products, I know they exist but I've heard they don't work, like the sprays and stuff. They also sell these plastic squares with little spikes on them, or electrostatic mats if you check out like www.petsmart.com that you can put on your couch, but they're too expensive for me lol

I just ended up putting a blanket over the couch when I leave, or stack a bunch of crap on it so she can't get up there... ghetto solutions haha

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aU7EE

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

I have a similar problem - our dog isn't allowed on our beige couch because she sheds like a maniac. As soon as you leave the room she's up there looking out the picture window. I've tried "stay-off" spray by Out! brand and it helps for a day and then you have to reapply.

There are tons of products, such as Bitter Apple and other "repellants" that are supposed to work. There are also these low voltage "scat mat" things which lay across the cushions and give the animal a light shock if he tries to jump up there. Allegedly, after a few times of being shocked, the animal will shy away from the object entirely. Far simpler solutions are to keep the animal crated or outside in a secured area when not home, or to cover the sofa with a sheet when not there.

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/ompaT

If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.

It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

Try setting the couch cushions up on their sides against the back or taking them off so the couch isn't that comfortable and hair won't get all over them. Or just lay an old blanket on the couch and let him sleep in comfort. Since we spoil ours, I go for the blanket.

They make a spray that you buy over the counter where pet supplies are sold. It's called "stay off spray" Its supposed to help.

They do make a spray but I have not tried it. Barricade the room with the sofa or flip the cushions up. I have also heard put a big trash bag on it as some dogs dislike the crinkly sound they make?
