Truth be told, about 50% or more of the questions and even a higher percentage of the responses on this pulse thing are total bunk from dubious sources at best. Even when you try to narrow it down staying in a poli-sci, soc & culture, etc fields, you get weirdos (probably kids trying to piss people off and hiding in anonymity). Comes with the territory on the gutless WWW.
As far as your topic; the immigration laws in the U.S.A. are anti-hispanic/latino laws. It's complex, so too many people take one easy argument or the other and polarize towards their social/peer group attitude, not wanting (too lazy or not smart enough) to think about all the implications.

Illegal immigrants should obviously not be exterminated, but they also have no right to enter our country illegally. The U.S. should take any and all steps to secure our southern border so that there is no longer a flood of illegal immigrants from Mexico. I also advocate immediate deportation of the 12 to 20 million illegals already here. I am willing to pay double price for produce and goods affected by the labor shortage during the transition period. The U.S. should temporarily triple the resources and limits for legal immigration until a balance is struck, but illegals (not "undocumenteds," they BROKE THE LAW) should all go to the back of the line and not be rewarded for breaking U.S. laws. If there is any inhumanity resulting from deporting illegal aliens it would be at the hands of the Mexican government, not ours. As part of the deportation plan, I would advocate a UN style humanitarian effort to house and feed those deported illegals in refugee camps for no more than one year; in camps situated more than 100 miles from the U.S. border. It's up to Mexico and maybe the U.N. after that.
It is wholly a fallacy that we can't live without illegals working here. Market forces will seek their own level just like water does. Fear of paying more for some things and having some temporary shortages will more than be offset by the economic benefits of having a fair market value for goods and services and not having to foot the bill for services and incarcerations which are strangling some states today. These people broke the law and they should be punished as should the employers who knowingly pay them.
If the U.S. shuts off the illegal immigration faucet, it will force the corrupt Mexican government to deal with its own problems rather than its current solution which is to make them our problem. How many of you realize that the Mexican oil industry was nationalized and that despite the fact that it is the world's 5th largest producer and 9th largest exporter of oil, it operates on paper at a loss because of its inefficiencies and obsolescence. It is used to subsize the Mexican government and its corrupt policies so it has been milked for all it is worth.
I have no problem with helping Mexico to solve its problems with economic aid and help in organizing an effective policy for its citizens' welfare, but this illegal immigration game they have played for decades must stop, at any cost. Why is it the responsibility of America to do the Mexican government's job?

i totally agree w/ u. this issue has snowballed too fast in such a short period of time. I understand the intolerance by the American ppl, but that doesn't give anyone a right to treat another person w/o respect. that's the problem w/our country now, we want to fix problems, but we never start at the source. Morals, respect & foundation have been totally lost between generations & ppl r just out right rude & ignorant & for some reason feel superior to others. This immigration issue has given some ignorant ppl an invisible wand that they think they can wave in front of illegals & somehow make them inferior. No, illegal immigration is not right, but neither is human extermination. sometimes u just have to laugh at the posts ppl make on here, cuz if u don't u will get just as tangled & ugly as these ppl. good day!!

I think a lot of it has to do with the anger that some people are feeling because they feel as if nothing is being done. But on the other hand I resent the fact that they talk about ANYONE as if they need to be exterminated. There is no reason in this world to talk to or about anyone like that, regardless of what or who they are. I realize that it's not only the anti side that makes racist remarks, but , if they can't take it, they shouldn't dish it out.

I don't have a problem with immigrants, I am an immigrant. I filled out the paperwork, paid all the fees, went for the medical exams, went for fingerprinting and interviews. I did it all the legal way. I have a problem with people entering a country illegally and collecting benefits that I am not allowed to receive (my husband had to sign documentation stating that I would never collect welfare). I understand that people who flee from countries because of poor treatment, etc. But I also think that they should still file with immigration and do things the legal way, I have no problem with them being here, as long as they do so legally. I spent thousands of dollars so that I could live here (we do not have a lot of money).
A lot of people think of illegal immigrants as squatters, sponging off society because they are paying taxes so that these illegal immigrants can enjoy the benefits of this country.

I agree with you. Its one thing to disagree with people who enter a country illegally because they are braking laws (but they are still human beings just like everyone else). Its another thing to talk so bad about a country. There seems to be so much hatred against Mexico. No respect for a foreign country whatsoever...There seems to be so much prejudice against Mexico. When after all, not all illegal immigrants come from Mexico.

I think the Mexico and Mexican bashers are despicable; talking of shooting undocumented border crossers is dangerous. Many of the most virulent hate mongers know nothing about the progress Mexico has made just in the last 10 years. New business and industry, millions of new jobs, better education, etc. Scientists being trained in Mexico's universities who work with US laboratories, cooperation not hatred. But how would the young people who complain the most know anything but what their racist parents tell them. They ought to be ashamed at their stupidity.

If every body stayed where they are supposed to be and got on with their lives and made the best of whatever it is that their country has to offer and left every one else alone, there wouldn`t be this problem............why cant the Poles or the Mexicans stay in their own country........the East Germans and other Soviet Bloc countries didn`t have any choice 15 or so years ago.........so whats the "big fascination" with having to clog up just a few countries that have made an effort and made a reasonable sucess of themselves...........sod off to Libya or Iran and see if they want you............because, speaking for myself...........I DON`T...............

Illegal immigration is a very emotional issue which alot of Americans are very frustrated about. Emotion + Frustration = Dissatisfaction. I'm fed up with illegals. They're here illegally and they claim they have rights in this country. What arrogance !

I agree there is a lack of civility and an abundance of myopic reasoning and self-centered arrogance. It seems to me that both sides prefer dismiss objective information (or the need of it) and instead shout from soap boxes that their "truth" is obvious and that real Americans will agree with them.
