My little guy james (2 1/2) is fully trained but wont sit on his potty outside. We are due to go on vacation next week & as we enjoy playing on the beach (with no nearby facilities) - we were wondering if anyone had any tips how we could overcome this problem - Although James is trained when he says he needs to "go" its usualy Very Urgent... please help

Had a similar problem with my son. I simply took an extra big beach towel and made a little frame (out of coat hangers) and used clothes pins to attach the towel to the frame (so that it resembled one of those deals that magicians use - I'm sure you know what I'm talking about!). Then he would step into the "curtain" and do his business on his potty and that was that. It was tough the first couple of times, but he adjusted. Good luck!

I would put him in swim diapers. My daughter wears swim diapers in the pool and on the beach and she's been fullly trained for a year & a half. She's like your son, when she has to go it's urgent, plus we have a 3 month old baby, so I can't always jump up, and run her to the restroom (and on the beach that means going back up to the condo...)

Ummm...Let's see.You don't wanna pressure him to sit on his pot outside.Instead make sure he uses the bathroom at home. And make sure the little guy sees other doing it as well .This happens to give him a boost of confidence. So that he will not think that he is the only one doing it.If he doesn't then he will be very hard-headed.So just let him know that you all will do the same thing.

Get one of those portable privacy curtains to go around the potty.

tell him as he is so clever at using his potty that you know he will be able to use it on the beach as well .......you could always get a little tent to sit it in for him

when I was very young my mom brought my potty and a small tent to the beach which gave me privacy as well as let me keep cool and it was very cheap

Make it a fun thing. Build a little tent with sheets, towels etc. or surround him with cooler , chairs and what have you. Let him think of this as his bathroom, I bet he will get the idea and like it.
