CUTE! We did one of these at my parents 25th anniversary party (colors were light green and lavender), and it was a huge hit. They can very elegant and very fun. Just keep your eye out for interesting plates/bowls/containers etc for serving, and have fun picking out the candies!

Also, just as an idea, we got a bunch of white "chinese take out boxes" and printed up labels in the party colors that said "Love is Sweet - Michael & Laurie 25 years together". You could do something similar with your names and wedding date, etc.

Very cute! I'm planning my wedding for Sept 07 and I have been on many sites (www.theknot.com & www.theweddingchannel.com) and candy buffets are popular and very much a "conversation piece" at a wedding. People find them to be comforting and casual, yet fun and unique. So I say go for it.

Besides, it's your day. Don't spend time worrying about what everyone might think about your choices. You don't want to be looking back in a couple years wishing you had done things differently. Have a great time with it! :o)

you could do a candy buffet, but if you wanted to branch out and include other items..you could do a strictly dessert buffet which would go along with your orginial theme. and if you have your wedding at night, this is appropriate to do especially if it's after the typical meal time. and you may want to offer some desserts/candies with no sugar for those you can't have sugar (ie diabetics). and you can do everything from tiny pastries, to chocolate covered strawberries, or even added fun, have a chocolate fountain and items around to dip into it. it's your reception, so have fun with it. and for an added "peace of mind" you can always put on the bottom of your invitations.. dessert reception following. Congrats and enjoy!!

Sounds more like a kid's birthday party. Perhaps you could consider a dessert buffet with the cake at the center.

If you have kids at the recepiton, ixnay on the candy, responsible parents don't allow it at special events which can be the beginning of chain-reaction temper tantrums. Irresponsible parents let their kids run wild on the sugar. BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

Sounds different. I am glad you decided to go with the chocolate and pink wedding colors. I think the candy will look nice together.

Cute and very fun for a wedding that takes place following the dinner hour. I imagine that it could even be elegant if done properly and guests were aware that they'd need to eat a meal before arriving.

Cheesy for a wedding during the day, mostly because your guests will be hungry for something more substantial at that time.

It's your wedding and you can do anything you want at it. If someone doesn't like it, who cares. They can not do it at their wedding. Personally, I love the idea, but I do agree with the person who responded by suggesting sugar-free candies be available. Just have fun. You only get married once (hopefully)
