Well, since you obviously must be starving to death to NEED to kill an animal, a gun would definitely be easier and faster.

They both have their high points. Bow hunting is more personal I think..you vs the deer. You have to be more alert and more cautious going into the woods, while you are in your stand, etc because you never know when the big one is gonna come through the clearing to you. In PA it is also in the middle of the rut which is more exciting as well. Deer hunting with a rifle is exciting as well because you have a better chance of seeing a buck in range, being that you are going from 30 yards for the bow to approximately 300 yards or more depending on your gun, scope, steadiness. Gun season in southwest PA is tough though because the deer have to have 4 points on one side and if they are moving it is not very easy to tell. Archery is easier because they have to be close anyways.

Both are great, and the season is just around the corner.

Bow is better for challenge, but a gun IS more effective. I hunt with a bow, but have to let deer pass, if they over 40 yds away.

It's normally easier to hunt deer with a gun - bow and arrow takes alot more practice. It would also depend on which hunting season it is - deer hunting has different seasons. Muzzle loading first, bow and arrow second, and gun third - in NC that is!@

Hey everybody can we calm down here. We are all hunters regardless of what weapon we chose. We all eat what we kill and we don't do it because we are starving we do it because the meat is better and healthier, and we enjoy the sport. If the anti's want to protest meat start at your local butcher, they kill a heck of alot more than we hunters do. I hunt deer with both bow and arrow and gun. Each one presents a different challenge, so it comes down to personal preference. Personally I prefer to bow hunt, but I'm not going to condemn my brothers who like to hunt with a gun. Any anti's can mail me I welcome any intelligent argument.

I think that would depend on your reason for hunting and your own personal skill level with each weapon.

I was a Marine Marksmanship Instructor I coached the shooting team and trained Marines to engage and eliminate man sized targets at 500 meters With iron sights. Comparatively speaking killing a deer with a scope at 300 yards is not a challenge.

However, I suck with a bow. I really want to improve my skill with this weapon but I don’t train with it enough. I want to shoot a bow not because it’s tactical or efficient but because it utilizes skills I currently do not posses. Honestly it will be a few years before I attempt to take a deer with a bow.

If you just want meat use whatever weapon you are more skilled with, if your doing it to challenge yourself then take the weapon you are less skilled with.

Remember don’t shoot, if your target is outside your skill level.

I prefer bow, but when bow season is closed You'll find me with a gun of some sort, whether it be Handgun, muzzleloader, shotgun, or if I am luck to get to rifle country

Gun is easier. I perfer a bow. You have to work for the deer.

This is a matter of opinion. Bowhunting is far more challenging, that is why I would pick BOWHUNTING. While others like the ease of taking a gun and putting one down at 100yds. This doesn't make one way, better than the other.
