I am currently working on quitting effexor, but i can say that it was the first of many anxiety/depression medicines that had ANY effect... it was by far the first thing that made me feel any difference in my emotional state and it works very well and they can up your dose as you need it, i didnt gain weight while taking it...
And the only reason i am quitting is cause my doctor is trying a new program with me and the effexor even while upped to 225 was not working with the other medication the way it was supposed to... But if you dont have SEVERE depression or Anxiety effexor was like my miracle... I am still not quite sure im comfortable not being on it anymore...

Paxil---wt gain may be inevitable, but not a significant amount. if you are gaining a lot of wt, consult a MD.

Celexa, similar to Lexapro. it's actually not having any effect on me, i've been on it for months, was recently increased, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't work for you.
