I dunno. I didn't tell my therapist everything. And that kinda defeats the purpose. You go there to talk to them. It's supposed to be private and confidential. They're supposed to be unbiased and all that good crap. If you don't tell them everything, they'll be listening to you and observing you with an incomplete picture, which could really mess things up.

i have told my therapist everything. well sometimes i think i hold back about how much i want to die b/c of my fear of being admitted inpatient, although i thinking i'm heading there anyway. is it something you think would hinder your progress? like something you don't want to handle? it's really up to you and how comfortable you'd feel w/the therapist. best of luck to you. my therapist knows a lot of stuff i have never told anyone else.

there is no point in going to a therapist if you hide stuff from them. Especially don't hide thoughts of suicide, or information about children that might be in danger. If you want them to help you, you have to tell them the truth.

I would restrict my comments to the exact problem that I am having. If it is not criminal you should not have a problem--after all, its a doctor/patient relationship. But, to be safe, always ask him if he going to keep your comments confidential and which items of information is he bound by law to reveal. If you are honest, your therapist should be also. After all, he doesn't want to lose you--your represent his income!

Yes, as long as it doesn't involve active suicide attempts or children living in danger. The therapist has an obligation to report such activities to the authorities.

you should feel comfortable enough with your therapist to share everything with them, that's the first step in why your even there. if you don't feel vary comfortable and able to trust your therapist with all your secrets then you should find a new one.

They can't help you if they don't know what's going on. So, yes, you need to tell them everything.

Don't let them know of any problems of depression or suicide thoughts if you are plaining to get a law enforcement job, or fed. job
