Hi. I was recently offered a new job. They want to do a background check on me, and I recently got a ticket for an open container. I wasn't driving, but it was my car. Will they check for this, or just felonies? They said I either need a valid license from this state, or if I had one from out of state they would fingerprint me. ALso, since I just got the ticket, would it even be on my record yet?

Normally, a background check would be for arrest and conviction records. Since you weren't driving, it won't be on your drivers license. Go ahead and let them fingerprint you. It will take 6-9 months for them to get a report, if indeed they really send your prints to the FBI. I wouldn't worry about this. Take your new job and be happy.

No they will check for things like crimes, drugs, sex offender things like that. I work for a big company and we do back ground checks all the time.
