Technically, no. they are not a disease, they are a parasite that can attach itself through sexual contact or even using a public toilet seat after someone with pubic lice.

Pubic louse infestation is NOT a STD, but it surely is a disease which is grouped together with STD as the mode of transmission remains the same –contact during cohabitation. There are other infrequent ways of the spread of this infestation. Some examples are sharing of undergarments, towels, etc.

Yes it is considered an std. You can catch it from using peoples towels and public toilets.

I've never thought of it that way...but it does not qualify because it is not a disease it is a parasite that jumps from one person to another due to close contact.
