Pretend to overhear her and then jump in "Really??! Oh my God that's wonderful- be sure and tell him I said congratulations!!" Whether it's true or not, you can beat her at her own game by giving her a reaction she never would have expected.

While it is possible that he could be the mom could also be nutso too. Does she have a history of doing stuff like this? If so, I wouldn't put too mucht thought into it. But always remember he is your ex for a reason no matter who did the breaking up, and you are better off without him, so there is really no reason to stress. Live, Laugh, Love
