I like my peanuts salty; all other nuts just as they are. But they're all good in chocolate too ... especially if mixed with bits of dried fruit.
Raisins and sultanas seem to be the usual partners, but what is gorgeous is that 85% cacao black chocolate from Germany that has bitter orange peel in it with a little side bowl of roasted almonds to munch in between bites.
(Heard you can't advertise on Answers, but am sure you will know what the chocolate is!)
As to why, I find peanuts a bit boring by themselves, so like the salt or chocolate on them. I like my cashews salted too. I use cashews or walnuts or pistachios or almonds in different salads. They add that crunch and texture. But too many plain nuts can be hard to digest ... so chocolate helps.
Brazil nuts are the best! So creamy and satisfying!

Last Saturday I got some cob nuts from the farmers' market at Wye, Kent. As picked off the trees in their cups and with their protective leaves. They are incomparably better than the nuts you get in ordinary shops, let alone ones manufacture processed with spices or chocolate coverings.
Fresh nuts like this are called "wet nuts", because when you eat them they are moist.

Roasted monkey nuts, because they are cheap. Also there is only a trace of salt in them. They are high in protein and repair the body quite well. I buy them in bags of 250g for something like 60p.

Whole nut is my dads fav chocolte bar. I like chilli knobby nuts. They are yummy. Otherwise, if I snack on them, I like pistachio and pine nuts. Or dry roasted.

No thanks, the nuts whole hazel nuts will do nicely thank you. Although I do love peanuts, and walnuts, and Brazil nuts, but can't stand pistachio's.
