Nope...never did believe it as literal fact. I believe in the lessons that it teaches for living better lives (this regards faith, familiy, brotherhood etc.)...but its obvious from our scientific knowledge that not everything in Genesis is literally fact...and only really imaginative or poor-thinking people would believe otherwise.

I don't believe that Genesis can be literally translated. For one, as mentioned already, there are numerous "anomalies" in it. But I would say that I believe it's a metaphor for creation of the universe. In almost every culture, there are similar stories to those mentioned in the Bible, e.g. the most well-known is, perhaps, the Deluge. Another is the conflict between some aspect of "good" and some aspect of "evil". There are male and female aspects, one spawning from the other.
If you also consider that the Bible was not written at the time of creation, of course, so it would have to be translated later. When people don't fully understand something, it's in their nature to put things into a way that they (and others) can understand. For example, when I'm explaining to someone about computers, they won't understand the "technical" aspects, so I have to use metaphors and analogies. That way they can better understand about computers, then in time also use the "technical" terms.
God, a representation of some higher power, created Adam and Eve, a representation of the first humanoid races populating the earth. If you want to be further controversial, the "forbidden fruit" may have represented indiscriminate sex, as it's natural for life to *want* to procreate to ensure their continued survival, and not necessarily purely for pleasure.

I do believe that Genesis is literally True. First I stand that all cultures in the world has a myth about Creation, fall from Eden and of a great world wide flood. Second with that first fact I believe that Genesis along with the rest of the BIBLE is the word of GOD.

Yes and i'll tell you why...
There was a man on earth around 2000 yrs. ago his name is Jesus he prove to all at that time he was the Christ and many a time quoted from Genesis.
His close associates called Apostles quoted from Genesis.
Justin Marter of the first century many a time wrote about the works of Jesus how he spread the word of God and healed and raised the dead ect.
Many other first century scolars were aware and some were present when Jesus and his Apostles did works that Moses wrote about for future prophesy.
God only punished the wicked at the flood of Noah's day
Noah told all the local people what he was doing and they
too can survive if they helped him and his sons build the ark but they laughed at him.
The other people far away are remembered in our creators mind and give them another chance to life on earth soon to come.
The facts prove you have no basis to ask such a question
read the history in the OLDEST BOOK of history The
B.... GOD does not hate any one, he hates what you do.
Maybe out of ingnorance people do wrong God understands that he will apply perfect justice if you are unaware of the facts he wants you to do he will give you another chance.
I hope that you approve this info. because i'm not the only one that can justify the Genesis account with facts.
Prove yours?

Yes! why is this so hard for people to understand? If you believe in God at all, you would be stupid to say you can't believe in Genesis. If you were here before anyone and you were all knowing and all powerful, don't you think you would be capable of creating and doing it in the way you please? Look around you, there is a God!! He created this world and gave you breath. Life is a miracle. wether you want to believe it or not. It can be hard to comprehend because we are not God. But you will stand before your Father one day, and all you have to do is Believe and Thank Him for the Life He gave you. God Bless

Yes, I believe it. I believe because I have stepped out in faith and trusted God according to His Word - and He has never failed.
You misrepresent God when you attribute hate or punishment to Him. When you understand the whole Bible you can see that He has none of that in Him. Hate and punishment are both fruits of selfishness and rebellion.
Patiently study the Bible with a desire for understanding and it will come to you. There are allegories in the Bible, but there are genuine truths, also.

Yes. But to clarify God did not ever hate man. Man could no longer live in constant fellowship with God once he fell under Satan's dominion.
I have faith in the Word of God because I trust Jesus with my life. He has proven Himself worthy of that trust over and over again to me. I would say that you have a lot more faith than I do since you believe something that was only written and ex-posited by one man and he had many doubts about his theory.

I believe it because there has been abundant evidence of God's care and provision for me and my husband to trust God when He says He will take care of me, that He loves me, and that He has good things planned for my life, plans to help and not harm me, because all things work together for the good of those who believe in Christ Jesus. His Word is evident in my life right now, in the time of the Bible that I am now living. So I have no reason to believe that He would be lying in the rest of the Bible.
Since Genesis was written as a historical narrative, it should be taken literally. Just as Psalms should be read in the poetical style that it was written in.

I would say yes to some degree, but the history of GENESIS was
taken from an earlier source, so in effect it is a watered down
version that was originally copyed from ancient sumerian writings!
these writings go back farther than the bible by many, many, many
years!!! but most religious people are not aware of it, or won't
take notice. it's well worth looking into!!! you will be amazed!!!

If you have an advanced knowledge of physics as well as the original herbrew version of Genesis you'd see that the stories actually support each other.
I recommend you read "Genesis and the Big Bang" by Gerald Schroeder, he's a professor at MIT so he knows his physics.
