xylem is a part of the vascular bundle(along with the phloem).

It consists of dead thick walled tubular cells called tracheids.
it is present in root,stem and leaf. it helps in conduction of water and minerals from the root to the leaves.
Xylem, along with phloem, provide mechanical support to the stem and leaves.

it conducts water to plants. it is made of parenchyma tissue. xylem has many sub division. ie.. xylem vessels tracheids, fibre, xylem parenchyma.
