I was in a position like yours for a while when I lived with some people who bought a bunch of greasy stuff- and fried it.

Since your parents aren't going to help, you're going to have to get some stuff for yourself. It will be a lot easier if you have an allowance or a part-time job. Not that I recommend it on top of school, but it is your money.

Do you have a bike? Ride that to get around. Or get a jump rope.

Have you tried talking with your parents about how you feel?

Good luck!

You have presented your question better than most people 3 times your age, so you have a gift already that you don't recognize. You present ideas very clearly with all the facts. All you need to do is channel all of your best abilities into the rest of your life.

Step 1. Get rid of the loser yahoo ID. Get something positive. DO IT TODAY.

Step 2. Sit down and make a list of all the negative things in your life that you have control over. GET RID OF THEM.

Man, that's a tough situation.

Okay, can you buy some veggies on your own? Do you get an allowance? If so, I like carrot sticks. I try and munch on those instead of candy. It doesn't always work, but it can help you feel a little better. Can you go grocery shopping with your Mom? That is the best time to influence her in a healthy way.

Try and increase your exercise in little steps - walk the long way home from school. You don't need to make drastic changes all at once to have an improvement, but steady, repeatable behavior for a long time WILL help. Do like 10 sit ups a day. Find something healthy you like to reward yourself with. (I like bubble baths as a treat) So, maybe if you keep going every day for a week, treat yourself to an ice cream. It is very important to try and get in shape while you are young - it has serious health effects later.

Best of luck to you!!!

It's wonderful to hear that you actually want to address the situation.

First of all, you're a little overweight, but definitely not fat. I'd say your fat if you were around 200 pounds. But what you need is to lose a few pounds, because that will make you feel better, it'll make you healthier.

I was in your position a few months ago. I used to weigh about 140 pouns when I first started college. I used to play baseball then. After I left baseball, I stopped working out and I progressively got to be about 210 pounds. I'm only 5'9", so I looked a little fat, to say the least.

I had some problems because I'm military, so you know how much exercise you have to do. So, I started on my own program, and what happened was that I lost about 40 pounds in 6 months. Of course, I worked my butt of and I really cut down on the junk food I ate.

Here's the secret: you need to get into an exercise regiment that will more than anything, keep you healthy. Sure, you'll lose some weight. But the real secret to weight loss is to mind what you eat. Instead of eating a burger and fries for lunch, you can try soup and a sandwhich. Instead of a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich, you can eat turkey meat with some light mayo. YOu know, that type of thing. You don't have to starve yourself, just be careful. Also, don't pig out all the time. It's okay to pig out once in a while. What I do is that I try to stay on a regular diet, and then every so often, I eat pizza or maybe some fries. Not the large order, just so I can stop the craving. I don;t drink regular soda, I switched to diet soda. And of course, I don't drink alcohol because beer, for example, will just make you fat.

Slowly, you'll see the differences in your clothes. They'll start to get looser even if you don't lose weight. It'll take some time for your body to actually lose weight because the body creates some resistance. But afterwards, you'll drop a couple of sizes, you'll start to feel better, sleep better and your energy level will increase.

All my friends used to laugh at me because I didn't run as fast as they did. But, I got on my program, and after a couple of months, they didn't know what happened.

You're 14 now, by the time you get to be 16, I'm sure you'll look better, and more importantly feel better about yourself. The biggest thing you can do to improve yourself is to not give up. Slowly you'll see the results and before you know it, you'll be one of the more popular girls at your school. It happened to me (well, I'm not a girl, but I did become more popular)

LOTS OF LUCK

I dont think you are overweight at all! If you want to lose weight just exersize. At your age your metabolism is very high so you have to eat alot more than an adult to gain weight. Here are a few tips: Never eat past 7pm, cut out all sodas, teas, juices, drinks with sugar, and drink lots of water. Always eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner dont skip meals this tricks your body into conservation mode (store fat). Take a long walk at night after dinner, maybe do some sit ups and push ups (do as many as you can each day until your exhaused. Do this and you will lose weight I promise. Even if you just stick with the diet.

Wow you are in a difficult situation, but you have the right attitude!! One thing you can do is find out what one serving is of each of the foods your parents get, and stick to that. Like if a serving size of cereal is one cup, just have one cup, with 1/2 cup of milk or whatever. If your parents get you burgers and fries, just eat the burger, which is plenty of food and calories for one meal, and skip the fries. If it's a normal size burger, you could probably just eat half the burger, or take off the top bun. If you are hungry between meals, have one small handful/serving size of the healthiest snack you can find, like popcorn or nuts. I would say take the stairs, not the elevator but I guess if you live in a small village, there probably aren't any elevators!!! Walk around the house/block as much as you can. Instead of watching TV, do a decorating project, clean up the yard, or climb a tree. Basically, pay attention to HOW MUCH food you eat as well as trying to eat nutritious food when you can and moving around as much as you can. We are used to eating way more food than we need. Of course, don't go hungry! But don't eat any more than you need to feel satisfied. You're on the right track! Hang in there!!!

It is hard to exercise, but it is absolutely necessary for healthy weight loss. It will get easier as it starts to work for you. Even if all your folks get is greasy foods, you can try to limit the amount you eat, and try to stay away from the carbs and sugars. Rabbit food is necessary for good health and I suggest you get your parents some literature on the need for fiber, fruits and vegatables. If they do not seem to be reading them, start reading them to them.. especially just before a meal. Point out the colesterol filled foods that are starting to clog their arteries as they eat... you did not mention if they were overweight, but I suspect that if you work on them from the standpoint of them not being around to see you grow up they might start to come around.

Bless your heart sweetie, I hear your pain. The only thing I can tell you to do is get a job and buy your own food. Then exercise like you normally would. Good Luck
