If any of you have ever been to boot camp, I know you have to undergo urinalysis when you go to MEPS, however, does one also have to do it upon entering boot camp as well?

Chill guys, did I ever say I do drugs or that I was joining the military? NO, I didn't. So don't criticize me for something that I didn't do.

When I went into the Navy 9 years ago they tested us as soon as we got into boot camp. In fact they tested us before we did anything else.

First of all, this is an odd question. I can surely understand peoples response to it. If you're not doing drugs or don't want to join, why ask??

That said, yes, they can test you during BCT. In fact, my hubby told me someone tested hot not that long ago and he's a Drill Sergeant. They test on a regular basis without warning at all stages in the Army. When he was in a regular unit, my hubby was in charge of urinalysis. Just because the Army needs soldiers, doesn't mean that they need bad soldiers, so don't count on testing hot and just a hand slap.

I joined the Navy in 1998. Urinalysis was on the first day of boot camp, during processing.

I joined the military in 1989 and I don't recall ever having a urinalysis in basic training. I did have one when I went to technical training and then of course in permanent duty. However, a lot has changed since 1989 and they may have changed the way they do things now. In any case, just to be safe, don't do anything that will cause you to come up hot.

I don't remember doing it when I first got to basic training. However, that was in 1997 so if I did, I forgot about it. However, you will have to do it afterwars. We did piss tests every few months, I believe, for the entire time I was in the military.

Hope you don't have plans on using drugs, boy.

Yes, & anytime they give you leave. Practice aiming for bottle.

My son went through in 2004 & they weeded people with these test. He is a commissioned officer & still sends anyone acting or looking strange after leave - his choice.

Not usually but they can. They have better equipment now a days so if you plan on smoking pot and being in the military, one has to go. They don't go together and if you don't get rid of one, it will be on your record forever.

I had to take one every month or so in the 82nd, they said it was random but I highly doubt it. I don't do drugs either but was still tested along with everyone else.

YES!!!! you get one at MEPS, and when you get to your receving unit before going to your permanite unit and can give random screenings thorough out Basic and AIT. So if you really want to get in don't do anything that you will regret!!
