You might say most of the religions are against women’s freedom and moderns way of life.

But since I have read the Iran’s rules as the state Islamic rules, I said to myself,,, mmm,, would be a good idea to buy a holiday ticket for my girl friend and her close friend whenever they try to wind me up?

But I am scared if she could come back alive?

i would have to say Islam mainly because the majority of Muslims are fundamentalists and follow every rule stated in their holy book, regardless to the fact that the book itself was constructed in an era with no resemblance to ours now. Many Christians however have begun to warm to the idea, that the Bible contains matters which should not be acted out or worshipped in this current era.

Read 'The bookseller of Kabul'

That will tell you all that you need to know and will answer your question.

However, it may not be the complete fault of Islam for the persecutions against women, rather it might be the society in which it exists, which I believe are different things.

Your first statement I believe to be totally incorrect, where you had the impression, or thought that someone else might, that Christianity is against women's freedom I do not know.

If you do truly want to find out more, that is if this question isn't supposed to just be provocative etc, (not saying that it is!) then I suggest you read the book, along with the Bible. In addition, don't read the Bible without an appropriate commentary, I believe this is the reason why many people are atheists, because they don't understand the bible. Sorry, I have no idea if you are Christian or whatever, but the answers are out there for you, you just have to read and research.

With the exception of Buddhism, every religion is the same when it comes to dishing out rules and punishments for women. The difference is that certain countries or cultures interpret their holy book in different ways. Some catholic countries are really years behind the UK when it comes to how they view womens rights, responsibilities and duties. There are fairly new religions out there (christian ones) that still believe that a woman's place is in the home with the children and she shouldn't even think about careers (yeah, ok they don't have to wrap themselves in things). It's all down to the society and culture. In Buddhism, it is different, because you are not viewed as 'just a woman', you are a spiritual being in a female body.

Although Both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible insist that marriage should be only between one man and one woman . Islam has advocated polygamy from its very beginnining.
Muhammad himself had nine wives at one time and his followers were allowed four wives. Needless to say women have never been allowed more than one husband.

With this legacy of basic inequality at the very root of the religion it is impossible to see how women can ever be regarded as equal to men in Islam.

Look around the world at Islamic States and you will see women being regularly treated as second, class citizens.
The Koran actually advises husbands to beat their wives if they do not behave as the husband wishes.

Again people having wrong notions about Islam. In all the societies Punishments are worse according to the nature of crimes. Some societies unfortunately in Muslim countries are tougher for women due to ignorance both from the religion and from nature. But it is not Islam which is tougher on women.

What is stated about orthodox Christianity? I know that if you go on what is said on tv, you'll get a feminist-controlled view. They taught originally that women save men from our 'deserved fate', by bearing children. That's what I read, can't remember what book.

I read an article in the Independent on Sunday a few years ago, it declared (backed up by muslim women) that we are told a load of shyte about how inferior muslim women are, they feel a lot better than English women. The pictures said it all. Remember that a blood-from-stone society (like ours) will have the worst religion to make things happen in the desired way.

Islam. They force control over women and the young with the 'moral police.' With their corrupt judicial system many young women and men are hung by crane each year for supposed acts against morality. If anyone saw the recent documentary about a 15 year old girl who was whipped, tortured and hung as she was deemed as an adulterer, even though she was not married and had been abused by an older man for years who she was accused of having a 'love affair' with (he was an ex member of the moral police.) This girls Mother had died when she was very young and her Father had become a drug addict - what chance did she have? She searched for, needed and craved love & guidance.
Become a Buddhist... how many wars/attocities/terrorist acts or cruelty have you heard about regarding Buddhism??

Sharia law has stoning on the books as punishment for adultery and the like.

Judaic law and Christianity have divorce court.

I think Islam is tougher on women than the other religions.

I went to Egypt and saw a man whose wife was walking 10 paces behind him, and then they went into a restaurant and he didn't hold the door open for her, so that it swung back and hit her.

I also saw a Islamic woman in the swimming pool - still completely fully dressed with nothing on display other than her eyes!!!!

I think any religion that classes women as second class citizens are outdated. I'm not saying that there religion is wrong, just that it's common decency and respect to hold a door open for anyone, let alone your wife!
