It is not Mange. So what could it be. I don't get paid until next week so I need to know what I can do ASAP to help her. Any suggestions would be great.

She is almost never home alone, so i doubt it is separation anxiety.

The vet said it was not Mange. She has been to vet, that is why I am poor and have no money to take her BACK to the vet until i get paid. It was almost $200 last time.

The dog might be allergic to its food, no matter how good a brand that you use. It could also have contact dermatitis from grass, carpeting, cleaning chemicals, shampoos, etc. If she's crated a lot, she may be allergic to the hard plastic of her kennel. Fleas or "hot spots" caused by chewing are a possibility if her skin has wet red spots.

She could have an enzyme deficiency that causes poor digestion of her food and subsequent hair loss from malnournishment. And she may just be blowing her puppy coat, depending on how old she is, or losing her undercoat if she's a double-coated dog.

Without extensive testing, it's almost impossible to say. Right now, I wouldn't do anything at all except brush her with a soft bristled brush, make sure that she doesn't have fleas, and try to keep her from scratching or chewing on herself. Shampooing, OTC meds, and other measures may make the problem worse, especially if it's an allergy.

There are some things that I want to mention from experience: my first German shepherd lost ALL his fur, and we went through almost $5k in vet bills. Allergy testing revealed that he did have serious allergies to corn, but that wasn't the problem.

He eventually died from an undiagnosed stomach tumor, but there's some compelling evidence to suggest that he had a stomach enzyme deficiency. Later, I saw another Shepherd with the same pattern of fur loss who was cured by the use of enzyme suppliments.

If further testing doesn't reveal anything, have the vet check for enzyme deficiency.

It could be allergies.. I found out my dog was allergic to my grass LMAO.. Does she have a little bit of a runny nose? I had to take mine to the vet because she had lots of sores all over and she scratched ALL the time. The vet said she had allergies and it turned into a bacteria infection, he gave her antibiotics and a steroid for the itching. You can also go to Wal-Mart and they have vitamins for skin and coat (which the vet gave me before I seen them there) and a shampoo I can't think of the name for it but its for hot spots and itching and I wash her with that once a week. But she's probably losing her fur because she's scratching and biting it.. Same thing my dog does! But I would try that from the store and it will cost you maybe $10 or $15 and then as soon as you can afford to take her to the vet do.. You will feel better because you will know what it is and how to treat it, then you can find cheaper alternatives to treat.

Is your puppy acutally loosing its hair where you can see bare skin? Or is there just a lot of hair coming out on the brush?
How do you know its not Mange? There are a few types o Mange. Demodex is one that every dog has but some dogs dont have the immune system to keep the mites under control.

If hair is just coming out on the brush it could be poor diet or a health issue. You should take your pup to the vet, call and see if you can post date a check or something

Wow you've a job on your hands there with motherless pups! Well done you thats what i say! Please don't blame yourself for this, look at the wider picture for a mintue - if the bleach was to blame then the other pups would have the same! I'd have a vet check done on this little one and i really don't think its mange either, thats a very evident disease and takes time to emerge and show symptoms. It may be a dietry fault or something to do with its nervous system? you really won't know until you've seen the vet but in the meantime try not to worry, you're doing your very best and by all accounts doing a grand job! Best of luck to you.

Sounds like it may be HOT SPOTS which is just miserable. And no matter what the sales person at the pet store says, their brand of food will not help you. You'll need an anti-bacterial shampoo and wash your pup a few times a week. Most vets will oook at this and charge you hundreds of $$ and have no answer. A few smart ones will tell you what's wrong and give you a shampoo.

The puppy is probably losing it's summer coat- when the winter coat comes in it pushes the old fur out. If this is not the case- I suggest combing less and adding protein and take it to the vet as soon as you can.

is it scratching at the spot? sometimes a dog's skin gets too dry and begins to itch. because it itches, the dog will scratch at it. the combination of dry skin and the scratching will cause the hair to fall out. you can go to any petstore and describe your problem and they will give you something to put on it, like a moisturizer. also, i know others have already mentioned this but this is the exact time of year for dogs to shed their undercoats. i have a husky puppy and she has lost all of the fur along the sides of her torso. during the summer they push all of the undercoat hair up and at the end of the summer it all falls out. in the fall it'll grow back and in the winter it will be very thick. dog food-wise, i suggest eukanuba. it is specifically formulated to provide all of the essential vitamins and nutrients. (i sound like a commercial) but seriously, be wary of any iams dog food products. they have been known for calling back millions of bags of food after it poisoned a number of pets across the nation, including my neighbor's dog. this just happened recently. some of their products could have other side effects. if none of these help you out, all i can say is to see a professional. i hope i could help!

maybe allergies? This also sounds like a bad trait. I sorry. Also she may be allergic to something in the food. Do you use holistic or iams? Iams usually uses chicken and has preservatives. Your dog may be allergic to this.

Fleas can also be why she is losing it.

How do you know its not Mange? Did you see your vet scrape off skin and draw blood for testing? If not get it done AGAIN and watch them do it.

It could be a number of things:
I had a dog that lost a lot of fur due to a hormone deficiency.
Your dog might also have allergies. The best thing to do is get her to the vet.

If she is a smaller breed dog she could have some sort of nervous disorder. My aunt has a pom and she loses her hair when taken on trips and stuff. Just try to keep things calm at home and get her to the vet the day you get paid.
