Exercise is good. 20 minutes is not enough to lose weight and to get your metabolism speed up, you need at least 30 minutes of continous exercise. Changing your eating habits will help your blood pressure. Do not stop taking your medication because that is what really helps... Good Luck and Feel Better!!

It should help you keep your weight the same, or possibly lose a bit, but you won't notice muhc of a difference. If you want to lose some, try going a few minutes longer each day, like 30 minutes, at a brisk pace.
I don't know that it will help your blood pressure, though. It might, I'm just not certain. One thing that can help blood pressure is to lay off salt. Check labels and steer clear of sodium. Try getting low sodium canned goods when you buy canned goods, and eat more fresh items.
Limit alcohol intake, as that can make blood pressure worse. Smoking makes it worse as well. Potassium is a great source for helping to lower blood pressure. You can take this as a supplement, or you can find it in foods. You can find potassium in the following foods:
1 cup lima beans, 955 MG's
Honeydew Melon, 1 cup- 461 MG's
1 cup cantaloup, 494 mg's
1 cup raw banana's, 594 mg's
1 cup cooked beets, 519 mg's
1 cup canned tomato sauce, 909 mg's
1 cup raisins, 1089 mg's
1 baked potato, with skin, 1081 mg's
1 cup winter squash, 896 mg's
Those above should give you a good idea on what to eat to help raise your potassium, which helps control & lower blood pressure.
Losing weight does help your blood pressure, and even 10 pounds helps. It also decreases your risks of heart disease.
Here's a sample walking schedule that is supposed to help with lowering weight and remaining physically active. It recommends going up by a few minutes each week, so like 15 minutes the first week, 20 the 2nd week, 25 the 3rd week, 30 the 4th week, etc.

DO NOT listen to those telling you to increase intensity and duration of cardio with high blood pressure!!!
Walking is a great place to start. You may lose weight depending on how out of shape you are and if you start eating correctly.
Only after your blood pressure is normal, should you increase intensity and duration.

No it will have little effect.
You need to raise your heart level whilst walking for at least half an hour or so, before any effects begin. As you have a heart condition you are advised to consult a health professional and not the medico hacks that are prevalent on yahoo answers

It will help at first, and not much, because it isn't very long and won't get your heart rate up much. Also you'll get used to the exercise and it won't have much effect anymore. I recommend biking or something that will get your heart rate up.
