angela, thanks for the information. It goes beyond just not asking those who report or are victims of crime about status, though. That I can see a reason for. It would protect those who are arrested, also.

not being able to 'single someone out for legal scrutiny' for their 'immigration status' means not being able to enforce or aid feds to enforce the law regarding illegal immigration.

but angela, granted those there are the right sort, what about all of those that pass through? Don't you bear responsibility for what they do elsewhere if you consciously look the other way?
