ok ill give a hint you need to find reactance

2006-08-23 04:01:53 · update #2

ok maybe this is too hard, 1/ (2 pi F C) is capacitive reactance and 1/ (2 pi F L) is inductive

the anwer is Infinity

The ciruit is at resonace, so the resistance is 0

The resonant frequency (calculated in MathCad) for this circuit is 79.6Hz

Using the formula for impedance in a series LC circuit, Z = j*(w^2*LC - 1)/(wC), which comes out to -6.47j. I think the presence of j means a 90 degree phase shift. So I = V/Z = 5*sin(75.5)/-6.47j = 0.77*cos(75.5).

This circuit is not at resonance. The resonant frequency is sqrt(1/LC) = sqrt(1/4e-6) = 500 Hz.

Let s=2*pi*f

Then Z = (s*2*10^-3) + (s*2*10^-3)^-1

I = V / Z

plug and chug.
hope you do well on your homework.

David is correct in that this circuit is not in resonance, but he did not convert his frequency to radians so don't believe his answer. I got 47.6
