Your cake wont rise in a microwave because you are nuking the yeast. Just use a regular oven, the microwave was not made for baking.

All good things come to those who wait.

Sorry to tell you this, but the best bet for baked goods is not to use the microwave, microwaves work by vibrating fat, sugar and water, because a cake contains so much that isn't this (flour) the results are not good and you end up with hard edges and chewy texture.

Try microwaving at 70% and using 2 8 or9 inch pans, instead of the larger pan. A Bundt pan would be even better.Tap the bottom gently several times to remove large air bubbles. Cook them seperately, with a clean, white paper towel on top. Also, line the bottom of the pan with waxed paper if it will be removed from the pan. Check for doneness after 8 minutes. Don't forget to turn the pan a quarter turn half way through cooking. If you're using a Bundt pan with all the batter in it, check after 18 minutes.

I think it's a terrible waste of mix to use the microwave. :(
