NEVER NEVER buy a puppy from a pet store
pet stores sell the lowest qualtity pups for high prices
they get pups from puppy mills (places where mom dogs live in cages all their lives pumping out litter after litter) so you are supporting a very cruel industry when you buy from a pet store
PLUS these pups are not properly looked after or socialized as well
think of it this way - why would somebody hide behind a pet store to sell their pups???
if you want a good pup get from a breeder - you will get a better pup, a healthier pup, and will get a LIFETIME guarantee..
getting from a pet store is the CRUELEST thing anybody can do..
pet stores care about profit - not pets

Do not, do not, do not buy a puppy from a pet store.
Pet stores get their puppies from PUPPY MILLS. A puppy mills is basically a farm for dogs. The dogs are kept several-to-a-cage in tiny cages, they are not given proper medical care, they are bred and bred and bred until they are used up, then they are tossed in the trash. If you buy a puppy from a pet store, you are supporting people who torture and kill dogs.
All pet stores get their puppies from puppy mills and backyard breeders (breeders who are just out to make money and don't really care about the quality or care of their dogs), unless the store is working with a rescue group that supplies the store with puppies to adopt, not buy.

I don't suggest buying puppies from pet stores that have poor facilities. Usually, the stores get their puppies for 100-200 dollars and sell them for much more.... and that's truth! I worked for a food distribution company and we had many pet stores as customers. There are some good stores though. There is one in Pueblo Colorado that has outstanding puppy facilities and full-time puppy only staff to play, groom, and take care of puppies. Those are definately far and few between...

Please, please, please do not buy a puppy from a pet store. Hundreds of thousands of dogs suffer in puppy mills in this country. The dogs are prisoners of greed. They are locked in small cages. They freeze in the winter and swelter in the summer. The dogs never get out of their prisons. They are bred over and over again until they die. The only way to free them from the misery of these horrid puppymills is to eliminate the demand for puppies by refusing to buy a puppy in a pet store and boycotting those pet stores that sell puppies. When people stop buying puppies in pet stores, the puppy mills will go out of business and the misery will end. The state and federal governments do not enforce the laws to protect the dogs. The commercial breeders and brokers have huge well-funded lobbying efforts. Please join this fight to free the prisoners of greed. The only person who is going to make a difference for the dogs suffering in puppy mills is you. You, the people, can free them from their puppy mill prisons.

I have to tell you Lashas may be cute now but we own one and as it got older it started getting very protective of just one person,They are also hard to train. their is a lot of work in upkeep in the breed. After shots and vet bills,Its around 50 every month to have her hair cut and styled. And they have to be brushed everyday. If its mixed its not even worth buying, in my opinion. And it could lead to medical problems later on. I paid 250.00 for a female. And right after we got it it had a hernia that had to be removed. If you really want a puppy check out petfinder. I got a really cute mut their and she is 13 now. Our laso is a lot of work as most little dogs are.If your serious about a dog please do some research. dont base it on o how cute the puppy is. when choosing the right puppy look at your finances can you afford the up keep, the size matters to,lhasas are good for apartment living and people who have lots of time to give, I also have an english bulldog an he would have cost 1200 dollars but we adopted him from our humane society, try their to. I really try to discorage people buying dogs from petstores because most come from puppy mills, check out the akc for a list of breeders.Good Luck to you if you need ferther assistance please ask. I am a vet tec,and animal lover for over 31 years now.excuse my typing i cant type worth a dime.

*** But I really suggest that you go to a shelter to get a dog, Puppies bought from pet stores aren't healthy and that would be promoting puppy mills, so please go to a shelter instead***

Please do NOT support pet store - they are supplied by puppy mills and irresponsible breeders, do not typically have puppies old enough to be removed from their mothers and do NOT deserve to get money to keep these enterprises going. Go online to akc.org and find a list of reputable breeders or search for llasa apso rescue if you want a purebred or go to a shelter and save one!!! PLEASE!

Hey peewee, I recommend checking your local animal shelter before going to that pet store. You can save money and a pup's life by going to the animal shelter. You can even check animal shelters online!
