The A-pillars are the two pillars that support the sides of the windshield. The B-pillars are the metal supports at the rear of the front doors. The metal supports between the front doors and rear doors are the B-pillars. The pillars supporting the sides of the rear windshield are the C-pillars.

The A pillars are the two posts that support the roof at the windshield and the B pillars are the ones between the front and rear door or quarter. These also help support the roof. These are also what you cut if you want to chop and car. But it is more tricky than it sounds.

As Pv said, the A and B Pillars are your support.
Now, coming from me, as an attorney who goes after auto manufacturers for wrongful death, we run into deaths caused by rollovers. Mostly the F-Series Trucks, which are now being manufactured with a "foam" substance that is being applied to the inner core of the Pillars for added strength, not for sound quality as Ford is claiming.

A pillar at the whindshield.front door and b pillar behind the front door. Roadster and phaetons do not have an a-pillar and hardtops do not have a b-pillar. Wagons often have a d-pillar at the tail/liftgate.
