No, I believe the office of Apostle became closed when the Apostle Paul died on Patmos. Although this is a gift listed in 1 Cor. 12:28, there is no reason to believe Paul referred to folks other than the 12 Jesus appointed to receive this office. I do believe that all other gifts, including prophet, are still with us today.

Scripturally, the only "apostle" not appointed directly by Jesus Christ was Matthias, at Acts 1:26. However, there is no scriptural support that he ever served as a true apostle, either prior to Paul's appointment, or after the death of any of the Apostles.

If the office of Apostle was open to others, we would expect to see examples in the NT. However, there is not one other apostle that's ever mentioned there; if it was possible, surely we would see even one. Conversely, we see several prophets, so we know this gift remained. No, I think anyone calling him or herself an "apostle" nowadays fits into the category Paul describes at 2 Cor. 11:5-15.

Look at the evidence.
Then 12 initial apostles new (real) churches popping up everywhere. Paul supporting himself (& probably then did the others) and no seeking of authority. Quiet a bit of death by martyrdom

Now loads of people claiming to be apostles usually asking for money and seeking status and self grandeur. Very little suffering and death by martyrdom.

What do you think?

Yes, there are always 12 that Jesus appoints as Apostles, not man regardless of what man says. In Ephesians the word says he gave some Apostles some Prophets some Evangelist, some Pastors and some Teachers for the perfecting of the saints, work of the ministry and the edifying of the body of Christ

Yes, there is a quorum of 12 apostles in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The full truth of the gospel has been restored through this church. To the best of my knowledge, it is the only church that practices temple worship, has prophets and apostles, and priesthood ordinances such as healing the sick by laying on of hands, etc.

Saved souls are physical until the resurrection. The dead ones sleep. Souls that never valued life cease existance by fire from heaven. after their resurrection.
