accordin to me it is a hen i will explain take the example of lizards they were previously dinosaurs and reformed as lizards the same case is with hens also hens are the reformed part and then they laid eggs THE HEN AND ROASTER BOTH TOGETHER ONLY CAN GIVE RISE TO A HEN

E comes before H in the alphabet... so "Egg" comes first.
Philosophically speaking... the Hen came first, to lay the chicken egg.

The hen. God created all the living animals and there they were! just magically running all around the Earth. Not a bunch of eggs and embryos because that's just too weird to picture.

Eggs from some early ancestor of chickens came first. Eventually the bird that hatched from that type of bird evolved into what we recognize today as a chicken. So in my mind egg first chicken next.
