I am really sorry to tell you this but you will have to take your dog to the vet. My dog was attacked last February. He had two bite marks, one near his neck and one on the back left flank. They did not look deep but a bite mark is serious business. Chances are your dog will need shots, surgery and medication just like mine did. We couldn't afford it either...I can promise you that. We explained this to the vet and he worked out payment arrangements with us. Our dog needed two surgeries and then the vet said it was up to the dog, God and me. The stitches would not hold because Iggy's are so skinny and their skin so tight. I had to change out his bandages twice a day for 30 days to get the skin to heal up. He was on meds for 45 days.
If you do not take your dog to the vet she will probably get an infection that will kill her. There are things you can try on your own but bite marks go deep. The vet needs to deep clean the bites and sanitize them. You can pour peroxide on the bites and rub in neosporin but this usually works better as treatment after your vet has performed the initial surgery.

Sorry, there is no other solution. The vet is the only option you have if you really care about the dog. A dog attack can cause not only puncture wounds on the outside, but she may also have internal injuries. Many times there is significant bleeding in the internal organs that can cause a slow and painful death. Step back, get your priorities in order and care for the dog properly. Take her to the vet. The dog loves you and if the tables were turned, she would give you the medical attention you deserved if you needed it. It's only money, work out a payment plan with the vet!!

Without seeing the punctures or having any idea how serious they are, I can only conjucture that if they COULD be treated at home, I would open the wounds, rinse with peroxide, and use neosporin ointment (the one with the pointy tip) and actually make sure that the ointment is INSIDE the wounds, under the skin. Then leave the area open to help prevent infection, clean two or three times per day, (clip hair in the area if necessary) and hope that no absesses occur. Lots of bacteria in the area, so if the wounds are not larger than a tooth puncture, you may be very lucky. Dog up to date on all vaccines???
Meanwhile, I would definitely try to get these three dogs away from your neighborhood! Naturally, your dog was either confined or on a leash????

I totally understand what you are going through. I know what it's like to be in a slump and not be able to afford the vet. It does seem that bad things happen when you least expect them and can least afford them. My suggestions would be this: Clean the wounds with peroxide three times per day. After each cleaning, apply some triple antibiotic ointment to the wounds. The main thing is to keep them clean. Watch for infection - that should be your biggest worry now. I would call the owners of the other dogs and see if they won't help you with the vet bills if you need to take your dog in. Good Luck!

First of all sometimes you can't afford things like the vet don't let some of these idiots make you feel bad about that!! BUT if the you think the dog may need stitches take her! If you can't stop the bleeding TAKE her! Other than that treat the wounds as if you would them on yourself. Clean them the best you can, put a lot of antibiotic ointment on them, and wrap it. You really need to wrap it to keep the dog from licking the ointment off but I would not keep it wrapped all the time all wounds need to breathe. If all her shots are updated you should be ok, I would think. LOL but I don't take my dog to the vet I take her to the humane society/SPCA and they are tremendously cheaper but they don't do payment plans so you can always call around.

If you cant afford to take your animal to the vet then you should not own an animal. Do the right thing and take her to the vet. You took on the responsibility of an animal so now you should do everything to take care of her, including taking her to the vet. No one on here is going to be able to help you. If she dies because you did not take her to the vet then that is something that will be on your conscience. Of course, people like you probably think animals are expendable and you would just get a new one.

Call up to the vet and explain what happened and you situation. Alot of time your vet will work out a payment plan for you....
Are there leash laws in the area you are at? Were the other dogs on the leash who attacked your dog? Was your dog on a leash? Reason why I ask if you had your dog on a leash, and the person with the 3 other dogs didn't have their dog on a leash, they broke the law and in some states they are obligated to cover your expenses! Call your Animal Control to find out what the laws are in your area!

Just clean it out really well with peroxide, once a day and put neosporen (or something like that) on there 2 to 3 X a day. I hope it is not bleeding to much because then the vet would have to be called.

Clean the wounds, you can use super glue to stitch the wounds together. Have someone help with this and make sure that it is not bleeding, also leave a little opening for infection to drain out. Put antibiotic ointment after super glue. Go to a co op store and buy some antibiotic injection and give her a shot, about 1cc, force fluids if possible ,also put honey in your water, this will help her get her strengh back. If the wounds are really deep you will have to take her to the vet. Cont. to clean her wounds and medicate then until she is healed.Hope this helps some. Good luck.
