It's funny that you say that Paulo. My mother said when you hit 25, kiss your years goodbye. She said, before you know it, you'll be hitting your fourties, wow, I just turned 40 this year and it did go by very quickly. Just remember to enjoy life and don't take things for granted. Life is a very special gift!!

I've pondered this phenomenon too and have come to the conclusion that it's not that time actually goes quicker (of course coz it's a universal constant...!) but it's just that the more years you notch up, the more used you get to the passage of time.
You know like how you the more you do a certain car journey, the faster it seems to go each time? It's the same with years.
You become familiar with certain landmarks (i.e. Christmas, birthdays) in the same way that you become familiar with landmarks on joureys (i.e. castles etc) which helps the journey go faster.
Imagine how fast time will go when you reach 40 or 50! My parents say the years blur into one after a while, so make the most of them!

I agree with Miss AA - i think it's just our perception of time - like the car ride - going somewhere for the 1st time it seems to take forever to get there - but coming back it's a breeze or going there again, it's a breeze b/c you know the way. I think maybe when we're out of our teens and out of the whole unpredictiblity / uncertainty of life (what am i gonna do with the rest of my life, where am i gonna go to college, where am i gonna live, who's my life partner ... blah blah blah) and into a routine where we pretty much now how things go that it's just a routine of day-in-day-out and they do seem to go quicker that way. It sux! Seems like just last year i turned 16 and now i'm almost 32! Funny - i always thought i'd "feel" different at certain ages - but i don't - just older! HA

It's all a matter of percentages and relativity. A week is a smaller percentage of your life at 20 than at 15, therefore it seems to pass quicker - the older you get the smaller percentage of your life a seven day span becomes.
Also you are likely to have more duites and responsibilites as you age and therefore little recreational time - seems like you're on the go constantly and time passes really quickly when you are busy.

You are not kidding, 6 months ago I was 21 now all of a sudden I am 46. I am sure I have not taken any drugs. I like to think that I have maintained a healthy 21 year old mentality it just happens to be in the body of a grey haired old git who to be honest I really don't recognise
By the time you read this i will probably be dead

I have to agree with you on this. I am 52 and seems like I just got out of high school. But I think a lot has to do with how busy you are in life. Throughout my life, I have always kept myself looking ahead with goals, and doing multiple things everyday. So being busy makes time go by fast, at least in one's mind.

My wise old dad gave me this gem when I asked the same question years ago, - when your 1year old 1 year represents 100% of your life. When you get to ten,, a year represents only 10% of your life, thus by the time you reach 50, 1year is only representative of 2% of your life, and so it goes that the older you get, a year becomes smaller in your appreciation of time.
Hope that was of some use,

Life goes faster because from 20 on we're having to face our responsibilities and have a lot less time to smell the roses.

That`s pretty much what I`ve asked yesterday! I suppose it`s because of the various opportunities that you have now and didn`t have before that it seems that we have less time. some obligations that you haven`t had before now you do; you are more independent and you do things for yourself not for your parent or whoever. take care
