When I was a teen I remember a boy had to be taken away from a chaperoned party in an ambulance for alcohol poisoning. The boy looked like death. His face was ashen gray. (Somebody thought it was funny to toss his unconscious body behind a fence. Luckily, some else found him and got him medical attention.) Because he got medical treatment, he was OK.
Here's a link to a foundation started by the parents of a 19 year-old who died from alcohol poisoning:

I can understand the weariness of believing what you read on the Internet. Well, I think what the boy did was drink before he got to the party. Then, as the party was mostly outside on acreage, he kept to the outskirts of the backyard--until he got tossed over the country fence (3-4 ft?). (Maybe someone he knew tossed him over the fence ... someone who didn't want to leave the party and who didn't want to get in trouble?) Though alcohol wasn't allowed at the party, a few teens probably smuggled in bottles.
I'm sure the chaperones did the best they could. Looking back, I think there probably were too many teens to chaperone sucessfully.
They did end the party upon the discovery of the boy.

m_thurson-Good for you for making good choices for yourself!! You may want to check out Al-Anon or Alateen if you haven't already. They help people whose lives are affected by someone else's drinking.
