I have generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). It's a heridtery condition in my family - my dad has it and my cousins on that side suffer from it as well. I'm dealing OK - i find that exercise helps. Routine exercise - something everyday. I was on Effexor for it but that made me really sluggish and just not myself - i took myself off of it cold turkey (not a good idea - don't suggest it) and have good days/bad days. I know that i have it and have been able to calm myself down just by telling myself "You're fine" over and over - but i have found that regular excerise - like about an hour of cardio - really helps keep the anxiousness down and the panic attacks away! it has something to do with the enodrphens or something - you release them when you exercise same as the meds will do. Caffeine also triggers panic attacks in me for some reason - so i stay away from it as best as i can - but every now and then you gotta have some chocolate! :) It used to affect the heck out of me - i never wanted to get out of bed - used to never go to work - but the longer i have it the more i'm aware of it and just push myself thru. Good luck to all of you!

Hi Baby Girl! I do experience anxiety. I am in general an anxious person. I have gone to get professional help and they loaded me up with drugs. This made it so I was so zonked I couldnt do what I needed to do on a daily basis. I don't have a real good answer. Walking is good. Mostly I think it's a matter of creating a good environment for yourself and knowing your limits. There are so many things in life we cannot control. Accepting that and finding a bit of peace in the things we can do is what I work towards.
Peace be with you.

I have chronic anxiety and it affects everything i do. I got it after surviving a life and death experience and it has never gone away. I tried all the meds they dish out and found the best for the really bad days is to take a childrens chewable benadryl. Other then that I use my inner voice to tell myslef positive things and "NO" a lot when one tries to start. I get the heart palpitations and the shortness of breath and always feel like i am chokiing. once i have chewed a benadryl all those symptoms dissappear..

I get a little anxious just before I need to do a public speaking engagement. I just take some long deep breaths to calm my nerves and slow my heart beat. There are many things you can do for different levels of anxiety. One of the easiest is the slow deep breathing, if you are at home, you can use aromatherapy to help with your anxiety and the best essential oil to use is lavender, it has a naturally calming effect. Anxiety is part of every day stress, so there are many things you can do to relieve it....try meditation, progressive muscle relaxation, guided imagery, use of visually relaxing props, relaxation music, etc. Check this website for more information.

i do no longer advise drugs through fact it won't clean up your project, in basic terms suppress it so it may come out in yet another sort, maybe in a technique happening interior of your physique which you will no longer word until that's in basic terms too overdue. As for stress assaults, I had an acquaintance who became into interior the comparable project. i did no longer help her through fact she refused help, yet I even have some unusual information on the thank you to handle this. plainly there at the instant are not any large issues on your existence, yet i'm in basic terms assuming from the "be stricken by assaults of stress for no obvious reason" quote. it would be triumphant so you might seek for an risk the place you may concentration on different persons in third international international locations, maybe volunteering to distribute malaria relief or foodstuff, even. once you're coping with a authentic disaster, each and every so often those issues take the backdrop and go away you on my own. on the different hand, tension can mount bigger and you will finally end up worse off, yet I doubt this.

I have had a lot of trouble with anxiety. It started in movie theaters for some reason. Basically what helps me the most is breathing by using my stomach. The Lucinda Bassett program is also very good and she has helped a lot of people overcome their anxiety. Hope that helps!

A lot of anxiety is caused by constantly asking ourselves "what if...happens?" I used to suffer from social anxiety and I was able to get over it by changing what I was saying to myself. By changing the question to "so what if...happens?" followed by thoughts such as I can handle it, I can tolerate it, It's not the end of the world, etc., one's anxiety is greatly reduced. Check out Worry Busters at http://www.wayneburke.com
for a lot more information on how to combat anxiety with the "so what if" technique. Good Luck.

I get panic attacks every so often... they are unexplainable and come without warning. I take prescription medication to help prevent anxiety attacks. The only downfall of the meds is that they make me sleepy. My Dr. also told me that my anxiety is from stress, so I try to relax more by pampering myself, reading and exercising. Good luck with your anxiety!

I suffer from anxiety and take anti-anxiety medications when needed. I'm currently taking an antidepressant to control my general anxiety. Recently I've been taking yoga and Pilate's which seem to help me relax.

Going to a counselor/ therapist to talk about your anxiety to find out what is causing you to be anxious. That helps you realize why/how you are acting and lets you be in control more. Also if that doesn't help, taking an anti-anxiety medication can help.
