Look at the decibal ratings - quiet is better. Some are as much as 100 times more noisy than similar priced on the same display floor. Here are a few sites to look at. Hope this helps.

How about a dish drawer? It has two compartments, the top one can be run with just a half load. I don't know the price but the water consumption would be much lower..

honestly they're all about the same, i like kenmore because of the maintenence plan they have, i used it alot on my washer and dryer,
look fr one that the door open all the way down and not about 6 inches up, the ones that have full door hold more dishes, check it out and you'll see
