I see many people giving out excuses saying that the reason why they don't have respect for Christians and their faith is because they force their religions on them. I recommend that you stay away from them and don't look for them if it's bothering you too much.

I belong to a protestant church. I remember that when I lived in my old house, I lived in a neighborhood open for everyone. A bunch of religious people of certain church different from mine would come to my house, to stand in front of my fence and say "Good Afternoon, Is anybody homeeeeee". I would hide and stay in silence because I knew what to expect from them. I know their doctrines and what they want me to believe and I disagree. I feel comfortable with that I believe and I don't feel like changing my current believes about God. I don't have anything against those people, I feel that they have the right to believe in what they believe, but I am simply busy and don't want to waste my time.

Years later I moved, but not because of them. In those years also men from rehabilitation centers came home to sell donuts and other stuff. I would buy them donuts once in a while, but they wanted me to buy all the time, and they ended up being annoying. So in my new neighborhood nobody bothers me because it's private. I suggest that you move to another neighborhood if you find Christians as a nuisance, or simply ignore them and clearly state to them that you have certain believes and you feel comfortable with them.

They also find them as a problem for the development of science which I also find absurd. The only people who can't complain about the "slow" development of science (which I believe is the opposite as slow) are the scientists who work on research and want to challenge Christian believes, because that's their interest and their lives depend on that type of work. The rest can support this, but if you want to believe in whether you want to believe, do it.

Now in this case of Yahoo Answers, nobody can't take this seriously. Don't come here saying that people are trying to force their believes on you, if you are the one who is looking for them. Simply turn off the computer and face the real world.

I don't hate nor dislike you Kjelstad, to tell you the truth.

bikernoj, I clearly did in the beginning, but the same thing happened as the men wanting to sell me donuts. They come more and more. I face reality to tell you the truth. I believe many of you are acting like children.

Using the world hate, is also inappropriate.

I obviously made a statement here: Be tolerant of other believes. If you can't be tolerant to this group of people I suggest that you distance them from them.

Or you distance yourself from them, or grow up and accept that there are many people with different views on life. If your believes are weak and aren't doing anything favorable to your life, you probably going to have strong feelings of hate for these people. If you are content with yourself and in what do you believe, You wouldn't care less.

Tolerance is something that people need to work on.

Non belivers fear what they cannot see with their eyes. They fear giving up control of their life to the Lord, but what they dont realize is that they already belong to satan and are under his evil control, and are in his firm grips. Jesus is the only way out of those bonds of satan. All they have to do is call upon the name of Jesus and He will free them from their bonds and chains and pull them out of the grips of satan. The choice is theirs to make.

I don't like Christianity because it states that I and the majority of the rest of the world are going to hell because we don't believe. You may not believe this personally, but it is what your religion states. If you choose to call yourself christian then you have to come to terms with this. I am sure it is easier to come to terms with this when you are projected as the chosen ones, but I don't want any piece of any god who judges you on your beliefs vs. your actions.

Beyond that fact, the believe this or suffer eternal damnation ideology creates this terrible "us vs. them" mentality. Then when your religion comes up against other mytholigies (i.e. Islam) that have the same attitude there is no room for compromise, only conflict. There is no room for the other within either of your worldview's.

So I am hostile towards Christians because they derive their power from threats and ultimately preach an intolerant dogma that leads to conflict. If you don't believe these things you probably aren't actually christian (or so many of them will tell you).

My solution -don't ascribe to any man-made religion. Live by my own ethical code (essentially the golden rule), accept that I and NO one else knows the true nature of the universe, and do my best to further mankind/humanity.

I firmly believe organized religion (not Christianity alone) is a hinderance to continued ethical/technological human progress. As long as people use it as a basis to exclude and persecute others, deny science, and justify their actions it will continue to contribute to a more contentious world vs. a peaceful one.

I do believe their are some moral/ethical lessons to be learned from the World's great religions, but they must be seen as they are, not holy texts but lessons on living a good life.

Imagine how much less contentious the world would be if people were able to say; this is what I believe to be true, but I acknowledge I don't know the truth for sure. Despite what Christians, Muslims, etc. will tell you - the only real and evident fact in this debate is that I don't know the truth and you don't either.

Pushing your fairy tale on others is one of only a myriad of problems with Christianity, and one of the easier ones to deal with. Whether Christianity, was a recruiter or not, I will proactively challenge your lies/beliefs (depends if you are the convertor or the convertee) in the hopes of a better world. Open your eyes....

I would rather keep my computer on and continue to dislike you.
Thanks though.

This is only according to your topic, Killer. I'm sure you and I would get along fine if religion were not involved.

Sciences does not go out of its way to disprove Christianity. Many of the scientists have been Christians. It is just that the things they discover contradict the bible and church doctrine.

Science would move a little faster if the church had not been set on burning these people at the stake.

The only thing I'm gonna say is choice. But think of it, if u believed what christians believe, wouldn't u want to tell everyone and try to convince them. Don't be deceived though, not everyone that says is a christian is. Jesus neva forced the truth on any1. Yes, we have the right of choice, choose life people, life.

Salam (Peace)!
I respect christians and christianity because Islam teaches Muslims to be tolerant of others. Also, in the Qur'an Christians and Jews are considered people of the Book which means that they received Books from God through revelation (ex. Bible, Torah, Psalm). I have no problem listening to open-minded christians but i get frustrated with those who are ignorant and don't give space for answers or are rude and don't listen.
Take care.

Why did you hide from the "other" religious group instead of simply facing them every time they came around? Why not simply tell them you're not interested, and they'd respect you and leave you be, right?

You answered your own question, but were unable to sift through your own dogma to see it.

Personally, I don't care what you believe as long as you're not trying to preach to me, convert me, or tell me how horrible I am for not agreeing with you. It's not that I dislike Christians, it's that I dislike them trying to turn ME into one.

Or they dislike them because they are so unlike Christ, who was a swell guy from what I understand. But then, he was Jewish, so I guess that's different. I suppose it's also because they bash other religions at the drop of a hat when they can hide behind annonymity online. But then, most people are pretty vile when they are unaccountable for their words. I generally like Christians when I meet them in person, but rarely when they act stupid online.

How do we stay away from them when the Christians are doing the knock-knock holy **** routine and passing theocratic laws that are violating the rights and freedoms of every one that is not a christian?

Get over your self, god was deliberately left out of the constitution because of the oppressive nature of religion.

Christians are sinners too, and a real believer won't deny this. And no, we won't be able to sin persistently if we've self assurance. we are "held" lower back from it, or shown the blunders of our procedures, our experience of right and incorrect being our witness. we decide on then to repent, and seek for forgiveness, and vow to no longer do it lower back. If we do it lower back in spite of everything of that....then we can be taken via hell, earlier we are forgiven. many those that choose to "declare" Christ as their saviour are in basic terms hiding (they think of) under a veil of righteousness. those are people who would desire to grant Christ a undesirable call, and blaspheme his holy call. they have their motives i'm particular. yet attempt to no longer look on those as your occasion to stick to. study the be conscious for your self, then do as you already know. you would be further approximately the authentic believers, and locate that people who you have seen, stated above, are of little result to the authentic christians. God has motives for those varieties besides. i think of it rather is to sift out the authentic seekers, and people who would desire to easily look on the exterior, or people who would desire to look to guy as their occasion, instead of to the be responsive to God.

Let me tell you a story of how you can't stay away from them....

I met Joe Katina, from the Katina Brothers at work, while taking care of his wife while having their baby....Joe and his four brothers are in a Christian singing group together and I loved them from my earlier days in the church....They are truly talented....He gave me a CD and gave me free tickets to his concert that next night, and I was thrilled....

Now, we had been out of the church for about 10 years at that time....The night of the concert, I was sitting there excited like a little kid anticipating their music....A woman in front of me turned around and asked me out of the blue , "What church do you go to?" I said, "we don't."

Her head about spun around spewing green stuff, and she replied, "SISTER, GET YOURSELF INTO THE HOUSE OF THE LORD!"

It took my breath away, and I looked at my husband and said, "Now, I remember why we stopped going to church."

That is the spirit prevalent among many who call themselves Christians, and that is why the term Christian is becoming a bad word....

I wish it were as easy as staying away from them. But there are aggressive Christians who WILL foist their religion on me. And they've pretty much taken over the government to illegitimately use it as a tool for evangelism, and they're picking my pocket to make me pay for a religion I do not believe in and in fact oppose!
